Ok, this is not exactly System Shock 1 : the game, because I exported the empty SS1 levels (only) in VRML format :

http://lanael.free.fr/vrml_shock.pngThis is just a quick & dirty hack using my old citadel project ( thus TSSHP ).
Also, this is not exactly in your browser; because only the Octaga VRML viewer can display it correctly ! :/
Currently : no doors, random lights, no spawn point, etc...
Not terribly exciting, but fun anyway.
Ah, on fun thing to note is that the VRML players are using the same control type than SS1 in walk mode :)

If nothing else, this would be really useful for walkthroughs or answering tricky questions. It's like a software version of D'Arcy!

WAHT? A use for VRML?

Awesome! This could be very helpful when texturing the CCP levels! Any idea when it will be done?

I don't think VRML is capable of a full SS1 remake. But then, this is the first time I've ever seen VRML used, so what do I know?

But we already have TSSHP to check the texture alignments...

Yep, there's nothing new about that. ( worse : some textures are currently badly aligned / mirrored )
An online sample ( no lights in the plugin ) :
(
http://lanael.free.fr/ss1/level2.wrl)
( if you see nothing, use the "FIT" button then the "GOTO" button, then walk )
In the plugin, no lights, no collision, no gravity, ....
Tested only with the octaga player and the cortona plugin from (

DAMNED. AWESOME. And being able to do your own player sprites/models/textures could make for interesting possibilities.

Heh...I'd go for it, even if it were a visual thing on top of an irc client.
Hmm, wonder how hard it'd be to add in being able to damage people and other things.
hmmmmmm
