I have the same problem with my GeForce 4 4200.
As soon as I try to run one of the new .exes the screen enters an invalid mode and turns off.
Haven't tried it with the new version of VDMSound, but since it used to work fine at 640x480 I doubt that will help.

At the moment, all I can say is that this seems to be an nV-specific issue, I can't test it (not having an nV card handy), and I have no idea what could be causing it.
I am working on an improved version which I plan to release this week, which might fix it.

Yay!
I never thought I'd actually be resenting my nice NVidia graphics card.

Aaaargh.
This may be slightly delayed while I try to get IDA working again. I foolishly 'upgraded' to 4.8, and now it refuses to do any form of analysis or code conversion (unless I explicitly tell it to, one instruction at a time), thus turning it into the largest, most complicated and least useful hex editor I have ever used.
Oh, and it refuses to save my indentation settings.
So full of hate.
Edit
On further examination it's actually doing the analysis, and I can get request function lists and suchlike; it's just not showing me the code.
Edit
I have achieved victory over IDA. Sort of.

Version 2.0 has been released! See the first post for details.
Of particular interest is the following:
- format is now a patch, not a modified copy of SS1. Throw away your old copies of SS1HR (they will not behave properly with the patch) and apply it to either the original version of CDSHOCK.EXE, or Mok's patched version. Backups shouldn't be necessary but I'd back them up anyways, of course.
- Only data is changed, not code. This means that it is now executing exactly the same code as in the original with different arguments and, thus, this should fix the issue with nVidia cards.

Wish I could, but when I try to delete them, it keeps saying that the application is being used by another person or program. :weird: Ah, well.
And.....
It still doesn't work. Same problem. *cringes* But I only have Mok's exe, I don't have the original.

"Frequency out of range", that is?
You're sure you're applying the patch to an otherwise unaltered version of Mok's binary, and not to one of the old HR versions?
Equally important, you're running the new, patched version? (Don't laugh. I've done this, set up a new file and forgot to edit CDSHOCK.BAT. )

Erm.....I suppose. It never tells me anything, I just lose the signal from the computer to the monitor.

Positive.

Oh, I'm not laughing, because I did that. I double-clicked the VDMS Shortcut, and then remembered that I didn't change the batch file.
Doesn't work without VDMS, either.

What happens if you tell the patcher to return it to defaults?
(If it still doesn't work, post the md5sum and, if possible, the binary diffs against the original CDSHOCK.EXE)

*whispers* Where do we download this? :erm:
