That is v. insane. Try setting it to, say, 640x320, and keep fiddling with it until you find the real bottom of the screen. :weird:

20 20 and no noticeable change. I'm wondering whether or not those variables actually do anything.
EDIT: neither does 80 80. System Shock must be immune for this.

Odd. As I go in increments of 10 from 640x480 to 640x400, I eventually noticed that the cursor gradually started running out of room of the bottom. :p at 640x400 it finally found the true bottom of the screen. :erm:

@NHJ BV: they do something for me...I think. :weird: Check the source?
@Enchantermon: the indication here is that while the game may claim to be running in 640x480, it's lying, and you're actually running in 640x400. Never have I heard such madness.

Version 2.0 has been released! See the first post for details.
Of particular interest is the following:
- format is now a patch, not a modified copy of SS1. Throw away your old copies of SS1HR (they will not behave properly with the patch) and apply it to either the original version of CDSHOCK.EXE, or Mok's patched version. Backups
shouldn't be necessary but I'd back them up anyways, of course.
- Only data is changed, not code. This means that it is now executing
exactly the same code as in the original with different arguments and, thus, this
should fix the issue with nVidia cards.
Since you've removed the hacked shock.exe files, and I can only get Shock working properly in pure DOS (under which the hi-res patch won't run), can you put them back again, with a version that runs at 1280x1024, if you've got it? Or have I missed something blindingly obvious?

Done. Sorry, I kind of assumed that a DOS version wasn't high priority on the grounds that even if someone was playing the game in DOS they'd have a non-DOS system to run the patcher on. Check the first post for the links.

What?! How in the world.....
Maybe it's a problem with Mok's exe?

I'm using Mok's binary myself without such problems. Madness, I say!

Must be. Can't think of any reason why it should do that, although I did download it, and not from Freylia, either. Maybe the copy I downloaded was quirky.
