There's a button on the ceiling to open it, but once you're trapped inside there's no way out.

In my recent playthrough, I was able to explore those locked cells without difficulty. But for the life of me I can't remember what I did to unlock them. :)
Either a switch somewhere on security or a cyberspace lock. Very cool stuff though.

Do you mean the small locked cells themselves? Because in cyberspace we can open the door to the room with the small locked cells inside, but then I don't think I have ever found a way to unlock some of the cells themselves. I ask this because you say you were able to 'explore' those cells, and there is nothing to explore. We can see what's inside them, but we just can't open them (the 'X' shaped force doors are locked).

Yeah I just went back to my Level 8 save game and I can open some of the force doors in the holding cells, but not all of them. Fortunately, you can see past the doors. One of the locked doors had a stamup or beserk behind it, so maybe there is a way to open all of the doors... who knows.

Don't all the doors unlock when you overload the reactor?
D'Arcy on 27/2/2013 at 16:00
Not those ones. I've just reloaded an old save game right before the final confrontation with Diego, went there and the doors are still locked. Besides, you wouldn't even be able to access the Security Level if you hadn't done that to the reactor already :)
All this talk about my favourite game just made me realise it's time to play it once again.

Good point, I haven't played it in years and I was forgetting the order you do things.
Valet2 on 28/2/2013 at 02:47
You were saving into one save file rewriting previous ones?
I'm extremely tired now, will check it out when wake up. Just interested in what's happening, but have no will to play the whole game.

I'll be replaying System Shock 2 very soon. Shock 1 is such a good game, I just finished my once a year replay and I'm already itching to get back to my favorite game of all time.
