You were a pretty hip cat, Syd.

(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1412016#post1412016) trevor, you suck. You have a, what some would call genius or brilliant, artist, known for his outlandish sensibilities and somewhat twisted view of the world.
One for whom there is absolutely no dearth of appropriate thread titles, all related to his work, or about him:
"The Piper's at the Gates of Dawn"
"The Madcap finally Laughs"
"Here He Goes"
"Wish You Were Here"
"Shine on You Crazy Diamond"
And the best that you can come up with is "Syd Barrett RIP?"
That's it? That's how you choose to honor a wonderful freak of nature like Syd? You disappoint me.
Come on man, you can do better than that.

Sorry but I just didn't realise that to inform people of the passing of a great artist I had to make a pun to demonstrate it.

Ya gotta bring something to the table, my man. Otherwise it's just another generic "oh somebody famous died" thread, and those get old quickly.

shine on man!
Although I'm a bass player I adore his minimalistic approach towards his playing. I even tried to copy his lighter-slide technique but without much effort.
It's a shame he stopped playing so early. He could have done much more...

The inspiration of a generation. His work was the root cause of some of the best music in the last 40 years.

Sat here right now listening to Shine on... with a tear in my eye and a glass in my hand. Farewell Syd.
