Not sure how I missed this thread but am definitely interested in giving this a go once you have finished making it MasterTaffer. While I've never played any of the King's Field games, UW1&2 have long since been my favourite PC games so would love to try this out.

I would so loooooooove it if From at last decided to develop a continuation of the series.
King's Field: The Ancient City (IV) is one of my most favourite games, I love slow paced dungeon explorations, open maps and tough puzzles plus tough enemies. Comparing gameplay, I think it's pretty close to UW series or Arx Fatalis.
I haven't tried any of the fan made games yet, will have to try. Which one is considered the best? Moratheia?

4. Not for you but for those who don't know: there was another one, the actul beginning of the series, which was released in JP only, but later was fan-translated to English.
I never played through the first 3 games though. I tried recently, it was fun and I didn't care about graphics, but I had massive problems with controls as the games didn't support analog sticks, only d-pad. Going to try again though, maybe I'll manage to adapt.
For those who will want to try the series I'd recommend The Ancient City (either on PS2 or on PCSX2, it's emulated well), it has it's own separate story, the first 3 games (for PS1) haven't aged too well. Be ready for unusual (for morern standards) slowness of your character, it can 'run' when you hold down 'x'. A trailer:

PS: Also, another series of From which is somewhat close game mechanics-wise to KF (except fights with monsters), even though it's totally different genre - survival horror, is the Echo Night series. Echo Night: Beyond also is one of my all-time favourite games.
