I found this sword in one of the ruins called "Keening". It is suppose to fortify attributes; Magicka 50 points, Health 30, Attack 30, Agility 20, Speed 20, with a constant effect -- it's value is 400,000 gold. Everytime I put this sword on my character it kills me with a message that says, " Keening has dealt you a mortal wound ". Has anyone else found this sword, and if so, is it suppose to kill you ?

[This must be an egg or a poor joke. It seems I am the one keening and not the AI.]

It's an essential item which you won't have the ability to use until late in the main quest.

I've avoided the spoilers for the end of the game, but I was going to go for the gold and try to end it prematurely. [ It's pretty easy to figure out who the ultimate bad guy is whether you've started the main quest or not -- in my case, not. ] I suppose I can't do that either. Oh man...I wanted to give my guy a real test. With the power I possess right now...it's just to damned easy to kill the AI I've run up against...even in Ghostgate...at least so far. Crap !

There are only two ways to beat the main storyline: either follow the main quest, or become so obscenely powerful that you can slay Vivec. After you kill Vivec you have to do a lot of other stuff, but that's the basic requirement.
