I am playing UW2 for the first time and My guy really sucks with a sword. I seem to be slashing away at creatures right in front of me and I don't seem to be hitting them. I assume that instead of the Ankh's in the first game, that there is some other way to raise your skill levels. Can someone tell me how. Is there a trainer? where is he? Also, is there a site to download the maps?
Thanks for your help!

Yep, instead of ankhs you now upgrade your skills with the aid of several trainers. For the details, check the best UW2 walkthrough in existence at (

(Watch out for spoilers)
And the maps, although you don´t need them IMO, can be found at (

Yeah, I was going to respond not long after you posted the thread, but I had leave for the A's vs. Yankees game. Just got back, now.
There are better weapons in this one, so you don't need to specialize in sword skill. I think the missile skill is the only one I never really tried out. It would prove more useful in this game, I think.
I doubt you'd need a walkthough or the maps for this one, either. If you need advice, though, let us know.

You may be right about the missle attack in this game Brad, but I've always felt better killing someone up close and personal. I see in the walk-through it mentions someone named Syria in the castle to train me in swordplay. I don't remember talking to anyone named Syria. Where the heck is she?

Syria, is usually in the prison, but she might not be available early on in the game. I think some characters only 'arrive' in the castle at a certain point in the game's story.
By the way, 'lore' skill is very useful in this game like it was in the first one, so look for a trainer for this if you want to know what you're looking at in your inventory.

Get the UW2 files from the Freedrive site listed by PraetorSancho. The GETSOMEMORE.exe file is the Uw2 game, documents, and a player.dat modifier. You can, at level 1, jack your stats through the roof without any problems at all.
