I realize that a lot of people on this board probably agree with Sustainable Development.Be that as it may here is some info on it for those who are interested from someone not for it.

I kinda get what the guy is saying, but all the Illuminati Conspiracy! Flouride Will Kill You! Public Schools are Ebil! End of the World! book ads at the margins tend to make the article's claims a bit suspect, eh? :erg:

Poor dear. I'm not going to bother reading the webpage (at least right now), as I've heard most of that stuff before here or there.

I think the menace from public schools is more from our growing cultural aversion to intellectualism and a focus on petty endevours as being the height of existence than simply bad teaching or bad curriculum (which might both be bad, but I don't think thats the deciding factor).

We don't have a culture that respects and promotes learning, and I don't think paying our teachers more is all that is needed, they can only work with what they are given.

Anyone who uses the word "soviet" who isn't talking about Cold War-era Russia has a credibility problem from the off. Two instances in the first two paragraphs does not make me want to know more.

And just as an aside, following on from what fett said, it's a crying shame that the very real dangers of fluoride in our drinking water have become associated with these right-wing conspiracy kooks. I hate 'em just for that.

On the upside I googled Mr Shaw and found a (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7723482319752164068) video of him waffling on at a PNAC come 9/11 conspirators' finger food party. However, the good bit is that one of the related videos is Ninja Cat :D

Let's also remember that this is the dude who bought 75 acres near (http://www.ci.santa-cruz.ca.us/) Santa Cruz and then got annoyed when they told him he couldn't split it into four and develop each part separately. Seriously, if anyone knew anything about Santa Cruz it should be that Santa Cruz makes Davis look like Watts.

He's just a Libertarian of the third-least credible variety. Anyone who can get worked up (in a positive or a negative way) over Michael Shaw is probably someone who would get worked up over Time Cube.

Michael Shaw is actually part of the "Illuminati" and as such has a vested interest in making "sure" that average americans never realize that they can live sustainably because if we do we won't "rely" on the mechanisms controlled by the Illuminati to survive. It's their goal to keep this knowledge from Americans and so they do "everything" they can to fight its spread. They have cells all "over" the world and they have been very successful in Somalia, which is why that country is such a mess today.
