Also does anyone else worry for Man Utd who seem to be slowing at the crucial time?
No, I hope the rot in hell along with every fucking random bandwagon supporter they have accumulated worldwide.
Sorry, that was a bit strong, I guess...

Here was I, a neutral, hoping to get some intelligent, reasonable debate about a close, exciting season finale. Guess that is football :p

Wishful thinking I think. I loathe and abhor the top two teams, am fairly neutral on the next two and could care less about the rest apart from Reading which I have to support or my son gets cross with me.
So precisely who wins the Premiership is only mildly interesting - would probably prefer that that smug, chewing-gum-with-his mouth-always-open moaning minnie, Ferguson, had the smug look wiped from his face (you guessed - don't like him much) but then you've got those smug, can't think of anything at the moment Terry and Lampard gits being smug instead. I dunno which is worse. Don't know why but I seem to have an overwhelming desire to give 'em all a good slap. And I'm not generally a violent person!
Still, if the commentators are anything to go by, every division ups and downs are 'going to the wire' apart from the MK Dons of course. Personally, I'm much more interested in the Championship and League 1.
Couldn't find anything much on your question about Ballack and Drogba just some more moaning from United about penalties and stuff but I did find (
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/7369207.stm) about Ferdinand kicking someone by mistake. He sent her a bunch of flowers. My, generous indeed. And it made me laugh because my bloke's mother took exception to Billy Connolly swearing loudly in a hotel in the Channel Islands. He sent her a bunch of flowers too . . . she sent them back!

I think the closest battle around this season was in the Unibond Premier, where about ten clubs were sepated by 2 points going into the final weekend, with two relegated from the bunch (the third place relegation place having been confirmed beforehand).
Have to say I'm more interested in Reading Town than their more illustrious neighbours. Might pop along again to their final game of the season the week after next, and visit their next door neighbours at the weekend to see how the Reading League title is decided.

I'm sorry to say I knew nothing about them before your post but did a search - and the memories that search kicked in. All those names - places I know so well and some I've lived in. I'll certainly add them to my interest list. And even better, when dearly beloved son starts spouting off about Reading, I'll start rabbitting about Reading as well - that'll confuse the eff out of him!! LOL.
And I thought (

There's an awful lot of football left in these games.

Double posting again because this is crunch time - Manchester United (yuck) are in Champions League final and will face Chelsea or Liverpool. Chelsea currently leading 2-1 on aggregate.
@ SD - keeping fingers crossed for you.
SubJeff on 30/4/2008 at 19:31
Seconding that finger crossing. Despite SDs niggling flaws he does have the good fortune to live in Liverpool and support a non-annoying team that are actually pretty darn entertaining to watch.

Wishful thinking perhaps but I was wondering if the game goes into extra time does the away goal rule still apply?
I'm a bit nervous about the potential "fan" trouble in Moscow regardless of whoever gets though. They should hold it in England somewhere.
D'Juhn Keep on 30/4/2008 at 21:16
Yes of course it still applies! Why would holding the game in England reduce trouble? Quite the opposite it would make it much worse as all the hooligans who have had their passports revoked would be able to attend. The police in Moscow are pretty hardcore apparently but one would think having the eyes of the footballing world on them would ensure they don't go over the top.
What a good game that was. Chelsea were on top in the first half, Liverpool totally on top in the second and Chelsea regained their form for extra time. Lots of potential CONTROVERSY. The Chelsea penalty was obviously correct, one could argue that the Chelsea's "offside" goal (the Essien shot that wasn't given) and the Hyypia penalty shout cancelled each other out I guess. Great game!
Can't wait for the conclusion to the Chelsea - Man Utd drama this season! I wonder if West Ham can scupper Man Utd again.

Well, you win some, you lose some, and tonight we lost. Sometimes things go your way and sometimes they don't, and over the two ties not much went our way; an own goal conceded in the fifth minute of four minutes added time last week, an offside goal and a blatant penalty not given this week. Ho hum.
