Well the ancient pentathlon was wrestling / pole-vaulting / discus / running /javelin or some such.
It was was modern when it was invented (in Napoleonic war time actually!). So yes, it is preparation for being Sharpe!

Nuts to that - d0om's talking Sharpe! Got to be the thiefiest locations ever. Particularly Sharpe's Mission in the most fantastic fort with arches and torches and just everything. :D
And yes the footie was quite good unless you were disappointed in the result, in which case, it was rubbish. ;)

Baseball, yes. They were supposed to run away with their division but instead they've gotten off to a 1-8 start.
It's a 162 game season so you can't really predict anything from the standings so far I'm just enjoying it while it lasts. (The Tigers swept the A's out of the playoffs a couple of years ago)

The A's are the Oakland Athletics, although both teams have A's on their hats. The two teams are in the same division and have (sort of) an ongoing rivalry.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Mariners haven't picked him up yet, baggage or not. Jose Vidro was ok in his prime as a second baseman, but having him DH for 162 games has to suck for people in Seattle.

gg Riise. Spectacular header from off the floor. I can only assume that his right foot is worse than most English players' left feet. I kind of think Chelsea deserved the draw, it was a really engrossing game with a lot of attacking which was nice to see!
I'm predicting Man Utd 1 - 1 Barcelona 1 tonight. I can't wait to watch it!!
