Unfortunately, I made a classic schoolboy error and forgot the clocks went forwards :(
Edit: Watching the rerun on the BBC at the moment. The cars look ridiculous with the huge front wings and tiny rears. Can't say I'm surprised there's been so many front wing knocks given the size of the things, they'd look more at home on a riced Vauxhall Nova ¬¬

That was absolutely cracking! Dream start to the season.
I was a bit disappointed in the BBC commentary though - distinct lack of visual information - not much help if you're deaf. I watched the re-run this afternoon so it may have been better in the original.

The visual part of the race is provided by FOM (Formula One Management), not the individual broadcaster (in this case the BBC)

I didn't know - so thanks for the info. Despite that, a total absence of adverts more than made up for any other lack. :)
(Though I had to keep my legs crossed for a bit.)

That was a great race, and from a fan's point of view it was nice that Button's win wasn't without a few hiccups.

Not sure how long it's been there, but Ross Brawn has put out a personal statement of thanks on the (
http://www.brawngp.com/) BrawnGP home page.
It was nice to see Barrichello finish so well, too.

the motorsport authorities are doing everything in their power to shaft McLaren

Just how much more obvious does it need to be?
Not much more obvious now, surely?
(
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsport/formula_one/7978186.stm) Lewis Hamilton and McLaren have been stripped of their podium finish and all points at the Australian Grand Prix
Absolutely laughable.

Just saw this on the BBC website :(
If it appeared yesterday I would have dismissed it as April Fool nonsense. Laughable indeed.
The race isn't over until the fat bureaucrat with the big book of rules sings. Bah.
David on 2/4/2009 at 10:21
While I don't like the bureaucrat nature of it, Lewis and McLaren did leave out a rather important point in their testimony to the Stewards - that the team instructed Lewis to slow down and let Trulli back past. If they'd have done this Lewis would have kept his fourth place.
To Trulli it would simply have looked like Hamilton had a problem and legitimately retook his place.
The Stewards should have listened to the McLaren radio transmissions before demoting Trulli.
D'Arcy on 2/4/2009 at 13:01
Considering that Trulli had actually finished in 3rd place, and that he was the first one to be stripped of his podium finish, I don't see why reverting that decision is so 'obvious' or 'laughable'.
And, as David said, after knowing what McLaren and Lewis said on their testimony, it became rather 'obvious' what the consequences would be.
If anything, authorities should be criticised for their rash decision of penalising Trulli.
