There is the slightly appealing prospect of Xboners and PS4 players raging about consolisation.

The current-gen consoles can put out some decent sized levels.
Remember that Deadly Shadows and its infamous shoe-box sized levels was for the original xbox generation, not the xbox 360.
Not being a console gamer, I tend to forget that 360 is the next gen from TDS's xbox. I hope you are correct and there isn't the compartmentalization from which TDS suffered. Loading zones really annoy the snot out of me as do tiny map limitations. My naturally happy disposition wants T4 to be something worthwhile. My cynical underbelly isn't holding its breath!

Hi pav! \o Long time no see.:D
Yep, it's not looking good at all. Still though, there's quite some time between now and when the game is coming out, so hopefully it will turn out to be a slightly less than ideal game (some annoyances, but nothing too major), but not a facepalm worthy one. (One in which it's so bad it's not worth playing.)

I took the meaning to be that it was something good, a good result of. Does have "up" in the word. Oh well, my mistake.

Here's another review from someone who played the game. Once again, nothing like the glowingly positive reports from the EM forum.
The article also describes how stealth works, in more detail than I've seen anywhere else.
Sounds like stealth is basically trinary. Either you're visible, invisible, or partially visible, and if the latter, you have a certain number of seconds to get back into the shadows before guards go to full alert. He wasn't impressed, overall.
Once again, Roy comes across as completely full of it.

Producer Stephane Roy told him why realistic stealth wouldn't be all that fun in a game setting. WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK!!This, is what the guy who is pretty much in charge of the project actually thinks ? :wot:
B*llsh*t it's not enjoyable in a game setting, it's the main reason I still f*cking play it

But you actually have an attention span, Esme.

Not trying to be mean, but they probably should've hired someone for this role who actually enjoys playing Thief and is good at stealthily playing Thief as a pre-requisite for bringing the franchise back.
Roy seems to be a hardcore 'casual gamer.' That's not necessarily a bad thing, in general, but for the Thief franchise -- if you want patient stealth gameplay with no gimmicks -- it's not good.
Thanks, Square Enix, for giving them a 'carte blanche' in the beginning for this project. I'm sure that made them giddy with casual excitement.
Not only did it screw development up for a couple brainstorming, experimentational years, but it allowed core, proven stealth mechanics to be tossed out the window in favor of broken, gamey ones that other titles use. Thanks a million! Hearts always ;)
I can't wait to powerfully swoop back and forth all over :P

Ok, who actually thinks T1&2 were in any way realistic stealth? I mean, sqeenix's ship seems to be sinking. But realistic stealth ISN'T fun. How many times have you failed to notice a full grown man crouched in a shadow 20cm from you? Of course it's bullshit. As much as any one person being able to defeat an army. What matters is if it's fun. Which is a difficult metric to gauge. But indications are not good. Which isn't an excuse to start swiveling your eyeballs back and forth, shouting about things you have realistically made up in your own head, etc. Keep some decorum ffs.
