The Catalyst 4.3 drivers have just been released for Win XP. I know there have been some issues surrounding the ATI drivers so I wanted to run it by you guys. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 256, DirectX 9.0b, Win XP, 1 Gb SDRAm, 2 x 120 Gb Hard Drive w/ Raid 0, etc. I'm just getting ready to play DX:IW for the first time. I assume I should us the 1.2 Patch (mixed message) and the texture mod. Any other recommendations? i.e. Win 2000 Compatibility Mode, etc.
* Which ATI Driver should I use?
* Whick patch?
* Texture patch?
* Compatibility Mode?
* AA off? Bloom off? Suggested resolution?
* Other hints?
Just trying to avoid some headaches, and these are the most helpful people around.
Thanks in advance.

Personally, I use the 1.2 patch, and Win2K compatability mode. Good performance, and it seems to run well. With that card, you should be able to get at least 800x600 at full detail, possibly higher. (Remember to check the settings on the second Video Options page) I personally haven't used the texture mod, but you can if you like. It shouldn't pose any problems. Just don't install the mod before you install the patch, otherwise you'll get errors.

Set the mouse rotation impulse from 0.2 to 1, to make combat more interesting. Preferably AFTER the first part of the game (you'll ses what I mean).
That's my only real tip.
I've actually only just got the game as well. Only played it for about 4 hours, and am still in the first city. So don't trust my tips. But it made me like the demo more, and I think it's made me like the game more, too (but I haven't tried the game without it).
