Has anyone had any luck with running T: DS on a laptop? I'm trying to get it running to use the editor, but haven't had much luck. The game will boot once freshly installed and function until I reach a loading screen, at which time the screen will display health bars and the Darkness Gem, but nothing else - and become unresponsive.
After stopping the program with the task manager, the game will always crash upon trying to load it up again, only saying that "Thief: DS has encountered an error and was shut down".
My system info is in the html file on this link (small download, used Everest)

Things I have tried:
-Running as admin
-Running in XPSP2 compatability mode
-Disabling a core for both the t3.ex and t3Main.exe processes
-Using a tool (the name escapes me) that installs every version of Direct X
-Updating audio drivers
Not sure how much bearing this has, but someone told me that there was an OpenGL.dll file out there somewhere that fixed their T: DS on a laptop, but I'm relatively clueless as to what that means or where to find it. Also, that Windows 7 works fine with T: DS (anyone that can confirm this)?
Any help would be appreciated, as I'm close to wit's end on this.
Thanks in advance!

I tried the tools and didn't get any different results. Disabling a core helps I think, but for some reason it still won't work.
I did find that the T: DS folder has all the files in it upon first launch, but once I run it and get to the first loading screen of the intro mission and it crashes, many of the files go missing (deleted somehow?) All the files I have left in the System folder after the crash are:
binkw32.dll
eax.dll
metadata.ion
t3.exe
T3Gamesys.t3u
T3Main.exe
TravelData
Any ideas how I can keep these files there? I tried copying the rest over into a seperate folder, then replacing them after they were deleted mysteriously and then got the "Flesh failed to initialize" error. I know my videocard (GeForce 9800) can handle it, so I'm really not sure what's going on.
Also, pardon the late reply, been busy the past couple days.

I dont think that card is supported, which would explain the flesh error, check the faq regarding this..
[edit] I just saw the numbers 9800 and an image of a radeon popped into my head, doh!

I guess I overlooked that section in the FAQ. Sure enough, it's not supported. Well then, mystery solved I guess. Maybe it's time to shop for a lower-end card...
Thanks Bikerdude

Sorry, I've been a complete baffoon, when I saw the numbers '9800' I thought you had an old radeon 9800. Your geforce 9800 will more than handle TDS, what drivers have been running..?

I'm not certain how to tell what type of power supply I'm running. It's a laptop though, and I almost always run it from the wall socket. The battery is a Gateway model no. SQU-720. 11.1V = 7800mAh. Not sure if that helps much.
As far as budget, probably around $150-200, but I'm so far out of the computer components loop that that may not get me much of anything these days.

Eh.. confused: have you replied to the wrong thread..?

I think I must have misread your comment in some bizarre way or thought you asked me what kind of power supply I was running. It was a sleep-deprived state I responded, so it's entirely possible I responded to a fabrication :erm:
As far as drivers are concerned, I'm using the Nvidia driver version 8.15.11.8585. It's dated at 4/30/2009. Not sure what other info I can give on it, so I hope that's what you're looking for.

I dont know why I havent suggested this earlier, but you need to two do 2 things.
1. patch the T3.exe and T3main.exe with (
http://www.thief-thecircle.com/guides/hyperthreading/) imagecfg - this will force them to run on one core.
2. make sure vertical sync is enabled in game.
