Yes, at least that was the plan 2 years ago, i have no idea if they have changed it or not. i know they have a modeller for stuff now so maybe they'll use him instead, i ran into him on a Swedish forum. But it seems like he's doing the monster designs.

That DF2 texture mod looks fantastic. I decided to try out the JKRemastered mod to see how well DF2's aged, and the answer is it's sorta rough, but still quite playable, and a lot of imagination on show. I can see the overhauled textures you're creating making it a much more pleasing-looking game.
For a game that could use newer textures, how about Anachronox? I'm not sure if it's had any texture overhauls, but it's definitely a game that could use all the love it can get.

Yeah those upscaled textures kind of pissed me off :P especially seeing people praising them. They look garbage. no upscale is going to make them better, upscale them to 8K and they'll look even worse lol
I'll add it to the list of "look into"! It came out 2001 so that fits the bill. It's one of those RPG's i remember trying but i never got far.

The writing is great, the combat is so boring that the official patch added a key to speed up all the animations.

Yup, love the game - played it again this year and it still holds up. However, the turn-based combat animations are just painful without using the patch hotkey.

Does Deus Ex have a proper retexture mod, or is it yet again just someone who lazily sharpened and upscaled the original textures?
Nameless Voice on 7/11/2023 at 11:14
It's two proper retexture mods, one (HDTP) for characters and objects, and one (New Vision) for world textures - though some of the textures are a bit too different at times.
There's also a ton of really annoying compatibility issues with it, because HDTP (the object and character model/texture mod) needs code to work, and the fan patches and mods don't support it, so you're stuck with either HD characters and objects, or fixed bugs, and can't have both at once.
(With the exception of the mod Shifter, which fixes some bugs and supports HDTP, but also changes makes a lot of other changes to the gameplay.)

I see, so it's a problem with stuff overriding the other perhaps. Sounds like it might be a complex game to mod :/

Just to be clear, the world textures are not a problem, they're just texture files and can be replaced / overridden easily. It's the objects and characters that a problem, because they need changes to the main script archive (DeusEx.u.)
Someone more familiar with how Deus Ex and Unreal Engine 1 work could probably explain it better.
