Subtle differences between the US and the UK that baffle me/you/us. - by SubJeff

Yes, the "footy", "mummy" etc.. does tend to just be used only by certain people.

I was happy not knowing what "onesie" meant, but since this thread I've seen it used by 3 different people on my facebook feed. :weird:
Are they suddenly a thing, or have I been doing really well at not keeping up?
demagogue on 27/12/2012 at 07:30
It's more of a thingy TBH.

At my local every mofo has been wearing one over Xmas. Superman onesies, blue with white dots, baby ones.
Ridiculous.

I work at a university and wearing a onesie to the pub is the latest thing people seem to do to prove to everyone that they have a really "out there" personality.

His point is only teenagers would call it being noshed off. Except I'm pretty sure they wouldn't. More like Viz-readers circa 1995.
Just laying my cards on the table, I don't see any theoretical issue with teenage blowjobs. Sounds ok.
Realise I'm treading old ground here but...
Partly that, but mainly that the relative inexperience of a teenager would result in a "noshing". It was a comment on the poor sexual technique of the young rather than a celebration of such.

At least it's useful if you're steaming drunk and looking for someone who thoroughly deserves a glassing.
SubJeff on 2/1/2013 at 10:05
Whoa whoa whoa a glassing what? Does anyone deserve a glassing? I realise you're joking but Christ even I don't make jokes about glassing. Glassing is so wrong, unless is real self defense, I'm still unsure as to whether glassers should get the death sentence or not!
demagogue on 2/1/2013 at 10:54
Well here's another subtle difference. All the sites explaining what glassing even is don't even bother to point out it might happen any other place than in the UK & Australia.
SubJeff on 2/1/2013 at 11:37
I think its a real Brit thing because I've never read about it in the news anywhere else. I'm surprised it happens in Australia too as they aren't too different from us (despite what they think).
Its incredibly nasty, potentially life-changing and potentially fatal.

Jesus Christ, this place gets more like Portlandia's feminist bookshop every day.
Maybe I can get a list of stuff we're not allowed to joke about in advance.
