After a fairly long time away from the boards I have recently posted a few messages with the "email notification" option enabled. However, on checking back today I found that several replies had been posted to the threads containing my messages (including one started by me) despite a world shortage of emails telling me that the replies had been posted. Assuming an email problem, but wanting to check I was subscribed anyway, I looked at the "Subscribed Threads" section of the user control panel - and I don't appear to be subscribed to any threads at all, despite the fact that some of the threads ("Cthulhu model..." and "feeling small..." in The Editors Guild for example) have

I've just checked your profile and noticed that you have <i>"Use email notification by default"</i> turned on, however this is disabled here to prevent the server dying from email overload. I'm not sure why the option is still present in the Control Panel actually...
The <img src="http://www.ttlg.com/forums/images/dot_folder.gif"> icons only denote you have posted in a thread, not that you are subscribed to it. This, tallied with the above Control Panel option would mean you would get no mails.
I am, however confused as to why <i>"Subscribe to this Thread"</i> does not produce an entry in the control panel, unless there have been no posts in those threads in the last <i>insert Default Thread View here</i> days. Try the box in the bottom right corner to increase the number of days shown.
You should get email if you check the <i>"Email Notification"</i> box when replying to, or posting a thread, although we have, on occasion had trouble sending emails to come domains, although this hasn't happened for a while as far as I am aware!

Okay, I'll keep an eye on it - for now I'll just chalk it up as One Of Those Things and keep check the forums more often :)

The Watcher, your email address is one of many that we're having problems sending to at the moment... All your "Reply to post" emails are bouncing. I have been working on this issue and have fixed quite a bit of it, but some gremlins remain. Sorry about thet.
Anyway the prroblem is not on your end... the emails are being sent, they just end up in my mailbox as "undeliverable".
If you have another email address you could use for the time being, you might try changing your profile address.

A similar problem is occuring with the PM E-Mail notfication. I receieved a few PM's from MsLedd but I was only alerted through the boards notification system. Weird thing is, several others who PM'ed me, I was sent a mail.

Sometimes, if you happen to be on the forums and get the popup notification first it will not bother sending the email. The system isn't perfect but, for the most part it works.
The problems we are currently having however, have to do with DNS and our email server... I'm still working on it.
