You needn't have reverted to an earlier save here. The

Wow, just started playing this, but I have a question, are there lockpicks in this mission? I am finding a lot of locked chests and doors I can't access...

The lockpicks (and other equipment) carry forward from the previous mission. Did you have them when you finished Damp Atmosphere?
Hint for everyone: Don't skip to the next mission before collecting your equipment from one of the chests in the armoury.
Edit: and after you've skipped, check you still have everything you need.

I think the only place to get a
BJ is when you make your choice
which crate to open in the captains armory in mission1.Seems like you made a very unwise choice then. :laff:

Yeah only the middle chest has a blackjack.
