It's sad there is no difficulty mod for Invisible War. Simply removing some ammos, multi-tools and biomod upgrades, as well as making enemies a little more powerful, would probably make the game more interesting. Oh, and also removing the Spy Bot stun feature. And I guess removing a few hand-holding dialogues would make the story more bearable too.

I haven't tried John P's mod, but you definitely need the 1.2 patch.

If you have a widescreen monitor it might be worth heading to the Widescreen Gaming Forums to hack widescreen into it Scots.

Not a concern. I got my hands on a cheap copy just there, so I've installed and patched both it and STALKER. Tonight I'll decide which one grabs me the most after another 30 minute play once the baby's asleep.

Somehow I don't think it will be much of a contest...:erg:

You'd be surprised, more often than not it'll boil down to my mood - if I'm not feeling particularly interesting in stalking around in the countryside, creeping through the underbrush, then DX:IW might win by default. :)
I had to crack the bastarding thing because it was complaining about my having Alcohol installed, and even after uninstalling Alcohol it still refused to load. Hrrr. Good game, publishers.

Yeah, you might as well start playing IW straight away.

I did, which isn't to say I think it's the better game, but definitely just what I was in the mood for - a bit of mindless fun. So far it's not presenting much of a challenge. I find many weapons to be ludicrously overpowered and yet your health/bioenergy is strangely minimal and it doesn't take much for both to be nearly empty. I've thrown a bunch of biomods and gun mods on so far and don't really find much of a benefit of any of them, except thermal stealth to evade cameras. But yeah, so far and so... so.
'Bout 1.5 hrs in and just freed the helicopter chick.

To the op. I'd say go for it. Just don't expect the same game as the original as it's not nearly as good. But what it lacks in depth, it makes up for in other ways. Install the high def pack as well. It improves the limited xbox textures quite a bit and almost looks like a PC game. You'll still be annoyed by the buggy eyes and small levels, but what the game offers that others don't is the variety of ways to get stuff done.
I would also suggest playing it at the next to highest difficutly level. Not sure if it's some sort of bug or not, but I swear the game is harder on that than the realistic mode.
