I'm currently playing through IW for the first time myself, it's an okay game, just not Deus Ex.
Strength level 3 is pretty funny. I threw a cardboard box at a pedestrian NPC and he died instantly. Flinging bodies into dumpsters is fun as well.
I really miss skills, body mapped health and upgrading your guns from DX1 though. Oh and the HUGE levels.

That is one of the MANY reasons, and I don't think he was correct. Everything I said about that game were my honest OPINIONS. Opinions can't be wrong I'm afraid.

You can get DXTool, which lets you change some small stuff about the game. Nothing serious. And the high definition textures by John. P. (which make load times just a little bit more annoying)
Other than that, the retail will be the latest version.
