Yep. As is the original DX.
I really wish they would hurry up and get the original System Shock and SS2 up on there.

I enjoyed DXIW on it's philosophical level (which is below DX1 of course), but I constantly ranted about the pitiful pseudo-inventory and loading zones. Played it two times and back then I planned to replay it one more time with black market biomods only, but somehow I'm not compelled to anymore.

Deus Ex: Invisible WarThe other things that I recall bugging me about the game was the seemingly simplistic plot that had been delivered in the first few levels, the lack of environmental awareness of the NPCs (a guy jogging around the lap-track while the building is crumbling due to a terrorist attack), the way that super-conspiracy stuff was introduced within the first few minutes of the game and it seemed like the conspiring groups were going to be caricatures when compared to those powerful forces in DX.
With a few reservations, I would say the overall plot/story is quite good. And it isn't as simplistic as it seems in the beginning. The game is more open ended and gives you more choices and side quests than DX, but some of the quests are silly and your choices don't really affect the plot. But I was mainly disappointed by the tiny levels and watered down gameplay.

I'm also interested in playing IW. I've heard compared to the first DX it sucks, but what about compared to games nowadays? To Bioshock? (p.s. I think BS blows chucks and couldn't even finish it)
I was disappointed by IW and Bioshock. but IW managed to keep my interest while Bioshock bored me.

1. Playing the first few levels of a game and concluding it has a simplistic plot is completely unfair. Think of the first few levels in Deus Ex - if I drew a conclusion from that it would in no way represent the entire story, would it?
2. Unless you encountered a bug that I certainly have not come across after about 10 playthroughs, Leo is not running around the track after the attack. As soon as the attack trigger is initiated both Leo and Klara run into the office. Unless that trigger broke (and therefore has nothing to do with 'environmental awareness', you're just confusing things.
3. The dialouge is a bit cheesier and the factions are far more obvious, yes.

I don't have an infinite amount of time to devote to gaming, therefore I look for a game to grab me fairly quickly and then I'll understand what I like about it, or dislike. With those games that fail to grab me, I can only report back on what I saw and I did see that bug, I did see tiny load zones and bug-eyed NPCs, I did get a ZOMG CONSPIRACY infodump within the first five/ten minutes which is just lacking sophistication and seems sloppy.
I'm willing to give it a go retroactively, because I'm deciding to get the most mileage out of my current computer before doing the inevitable dual core upgrade, but my early views seemed to correlate with a lot of people's thoughts on the full game.

Fair enough, but neither of the games starts out with an intricate story. It has to develop.
Even if you don't find it better than Deus Ex, it's still better than most FPS games.

Heh, steady there, Shadow. It's only a game, no need to get too heated.

I'M FREAKING OUT MAN!!!
Just kidding, it's not the game, I just don't like that guy. :)
And to answer your question, no, don't bother finishing this game. It's a waste of your time. I played it for the story and even that was bad, the gameplay was so painful I barely pulled through to the finish.

I think our standards (on TTLG) are pretty high overall is all ShadowXOR (and come on admit you are mad at DaveW cuz he called you out, correctly, in that other thread that has been vapourised.
Scots, I'm going to play it regardless and I'll let you know what I think. Given that everything I've seen you post about BioShock I think is spot on I reckon when it comes to this type of FPS we're reading at least from the same set of books (or shelf).
