I just killed the demon after a lot of tries (sadly had to use a paralyzing weapon although I'm supposed to be a pure mage). Now I'm locked up in this room, with this tied up woman and the meteor above her, but no amount of clicking or using items on either the woman or the meteor or any of the doors seem to do anything.
Could this be some kind of bug or am I overlooking something? --or have I broken the game? (before this I have found a secret entrance to the snake woman place, cleared the place out and found a fancy looking ring... which I probably wasn't supposed to get at that stage)

I suppose you were at the castle and got the meteor fragment, revelation and all?

indeed, I got all that, but the meteor fragment is destroyed because I touched it right?
It's the first time I play the game, so I try to follow the story as much as possible, and explore as much as possible, which is why I stumbled upon the snake women, and on a dragon too! :D
This shouldn't break the quest though, or does it?

At this point it won't happen yet.
Anyway to your right there is a set of levers, the one further away should unlock a secret door.
And you shouldn't be able to use magic in the meteor chamber.
If you're a bit of a wimp fighting, maybe you should finish some other things before you adventure in the chamber, to raise your defense, magic resistance, and constitution.

I'm still stuck though. I've been looking around that room for hours (quite literally), and I can't find any levers. Are they hidden too?
Some more info maybe:
* I'm in a grisly room full of skulls and all in red (probably blood :p )
* There was a cutscene as I entered, that ended with the summoning of a demon. I killed the demon but I can't search its corpse.
* the room has three doors (portcullis), which won't open; not with a key and not with tools.
* There is a woman lying on an altar. Clicking, double-clicking or using items on her doesn't have an effect.
* above the woman hangs a blue glowing rock; I suppose this is the meteor fragment. Nothing I do to it seems to have an effect.
* I have the steam version of Arx Fatalis; I believe this is version 1.18.

I see, it must be a bug, you should try another previous save, and try it again.
The door should be open and the girl should be free from the altar, is a bug.

In the worst case I'll just start a new game. Enough fun to be had either way. :cool:

It is indeed a bug. it has alredy happen to me. Martins advice should help
