I'm running System Shock 1 (PC Version, CDSHOCK) on a Mac Pro under OS X 10.9.4 using the Boxer app ((
http://boxerapp.com)) and the sound and graphics work properly, but I'm stuck at the elevator on level 6. I unlocked the elevator to the last grove in cyberspace and defeated Diego, but when I try to take the elevator down to the grove I get the error message "Elevator disabled: Biohazard emergency."
I already have the biohazard suit from Sabo's locker, so I know that is not the problem. I know this problem report came up before as a game bug and the suggested workaround was to go back to an earlier save game. Since I didn't have one, I went back to the beginning of the game and started over, but I'm stuck in the same place again.
I suspect that this is some sort of bug associated with the boxer application, but I don't have an effective workaround at the moment. Is there a way to edit the save game file to enable the elevator? If not, then could someone post a valid save game file for this point in the game? Then I can at least troubleshoot whether the problem is in a save game or a resource file.

I'd love to help you out, but I've never found that bug myself.
I currently don't have any savegame for that point in the game, but I can start a new game and post one in a few days, if you're willing to wait.
Edit: Just to make things clear: On which elevator are you getting this message? Is it the elevator to Beta Grove?

This sentence makes me wonder if perhaps you're not trying to take the elevator up to Engineering before you're allowed to do so.
Have you performed all the necessary actions already?
- Disable safety interlocks on all three remaining groves
- Pull Jettison Enable Master Control near Diego's quarters (at which point you'll receive an error message)
- Go down to Maintenance and solve the problem
- Go back up to the Jettison Enable Master Control and pull it
- Go to Beta quarter and jettison Beta Grove.
