Ok so i'm kind of new to the game and i've jumped into a tent in suran and i'm completely stuck. i've hit a guard with a fireball thinking maybe he'd whack me down but he can't reach me. the game is saved in that exact spot so what do i do?

On a PC: Open the console (default is the "~" key) and type "fixme" then hit enter. That should shift you a short distance. You might have to do it a couple of times. Alternately, typing "tcl" and hitting enter will toggle clipping off, allowing you to move freely. Type "tcl" & enter again to toggle it back on.
On an Xbox: I have no idea.

On Xbox: You could also try using Divine/Almsivi intervention, or Recall out. :thumb:

Yep, "TCL works great when modding, use it all the time.
