i'm in that one that cauis cossades' contact at the balmora fighter's guild has you go to....the one where you have to find the puzzle box. with the really odd name. i've pretty much gone everywhere and don't really know how to tell you where i am, so a basic step by step puzzle solving or something like that would be best i think.
and across that broken bridge there's a room with a little elevator like thing and there's two plates that have what looks like a lady with a torch on them. one of the plates had a lantern on it so i thought maybe you had to place a light on each of them. well i got a candle and it didn't work so am i totally wrong or do i have to use a lantern on both?

Hmm.. to the best of my knowledge, there's no puzzle where you 'use' something on something else. I believe you may be reading too much into the place. As to where the box is, it's one of the most-asked questions on the board; searching ought to give you what you need.
