I was being slightly sarcastic, as the issue is pretty well-discussed since the vb4 update as far as I can see.
Plus, I just always wanted to say that.

Sorry, I hadn't seen it discussed anywhere, Shock 1 & 2 General Discussion is the only forum I frequent.

Generally, before commenting on issues with the forum software, it might be a good idea to check (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=72) the forum for the TTLG forums and website network, where the issue (and other issues with the new forum software version) have been discussed in detail.
On another note, specific devices set to be removed on higher difficulty levels are obviously stored in the mission files themselves, not the gamesys.

That brings me back to a point I was thinking about. At this point it really might be easier and a lot less aggravating to get a vanilla copy of SS2 and start a new patch from scratch, rather than undo the plethora of changes in the Straylight patch.
This is isn't neccessary. Changes in ADaoB have pretty much all been well justified. As NV said, ICE-picks, Auto-Repair, and
especially FE's had to be balanced.
Also, yes, stripped maps cannot be updated with ZB's updated textures.

Would you like to take a guess as to how many hours it took to manually check (and realign if necessary)
every single screen texture in the entire game when I patched ADaOB for SHMUP?
Goes for me as well :). Or worse, would you like to know how much time it took me so far in randomizing
the entire game?? Zygo is king :), truly.

I'm actually fine with the current version of ADaOB (other than hating typing it). I've just been trying to help frame the debate in a more level-headed manner than it started.
My long-term hope for the patch is that the SHEMP textures will be backed out of the base version and that the patch will be forked into a version where the hi-res textures are provided by DDFix. This would allow the updated monitor textures to appear uniformly across all maps, even the stripped ones.

Is that possible to do? And what is required to do it?

The argument that those needed to be 'balanced' is like saying that the ability to save anywhere needs to be balanced. After all, you can go through the entire game nanny saving every 15 seconds and beat it without ever missing a shot or taking damage. Infact it can even be done with nothing but the default stats. And surely something that lets the player go through with default stats and never being damaged is more unbalanced then FE's and ICE-picks?
The potential for a player to find a list of all the best goodies and build a super munchkin around it dosen't make it unbalanced at all. How many people here actually found ALL of the tools, without help, in their first playthrough? Or their second? And if your looking for a challenge after you DO know where they are, then just don't pick the things up. Is removing them entirely really easier then having a little moderation?

If you have a skill, it should serve some purpose. Modify skill was never ever picked up by anyone because of FE's abundance. A large majority go through the game using 2-4 weapons, and those can be modified to 2 really fast with no investment at all. That makes the skill pointless, which is bad.
Saving is a whole different thing. Save option is universal to games in general, and only a poor developer would limit to player to save in x min periods. Purpose of saving is to save the player from frustration from starting over and over again.

I like what you said, but "nanny saving" is my new favorite phrase. I just can't get enough of it.
