I've been trying to access strangebedfellows.de for awhile now and haven't been able too and now I get an alert about the mysql database being gone. I really hope the site hasn't died. If hosting is beginning to become a problem, I don't want it to lead to the site going down, and if that's the case I have a friend who would be more than happy to offer up space on one of his large root servers to host the site as we are both big fans of the game.

 I've tried on multiple computers and all I get is this
Code:
Database Error: MySQL server has gone away
File: /www/htdocs/w0086382/Sources/Security.php
Line: 272
The bottom line of that changes, they could be doing maintenance on the database, but then again this has me worried.
EDIT: I can access the torrent tracker, but that's it.

I can access it through a proxy which is weird, I see no reason for my normal IP not to let me access the site, I mean I haven't been banned from there or anything. Any clues? proxies are too slow for me.

I've been doing some maintenance and coding, so that might be a reason the forum switched out temporarily. It's a question of whether I turn off SBF for a few hours or give you some errors now and then that are usually fixed with the next reload. I prefer the latter.
But if you can't connect for a longer time you may have a banned IP. We have only very few bans but some are necessary on a guest posting allowed forum, to protect ourselves from spambots.
I suggest wait and check back later. If you want you can also PM me your IP and I'll check it.
Oh and, no, we're not dead. :)

Server side caching by your ISP?

I emailed you my IP and added you to my MSN contact list. And my IP could very well be banned, I had a nasty bot virus on my computer a few months back that I found out was spamming any forums and IRCs in my history. Hope we get this all sorted out.

*Aherm, just change your IP address. Wouldn't that fix the problem? I don't know how hard it would be, as all I need to do is disconnec my DSL from the internet, and connect again, it bounds to a new IP address on connection. I'm sure your ISP also has an option to change it, should you have problems with the one you are assigned. (This is, assuming, that IP address, is the problem...)

We got that worked out in the meantime. dddreyer had not been banned on sbf but more likely it was a problem with his ISP. Anyway, it works now.
