But a couple of newspapers sussed we were doing it through looking at the conversation we were having online, and pushed our schedule up by about a week, before we had all the translations sorted. so we had to get it all up early.

Why do I keep thinking this thread is about a sequel to The Thing?

Thanks for the Link, Ulukai, which led me on to read about the Foundation. I quite like their mission statement.

Of course, the UK government would spend it on building shelters for asylum seekers, speed cameras, health & safety inspectors and pissing the remainder into gaping maw of the NHS.

Glad to know I'm not alone in despising the H & S inspectors - absolute bain of my life. Perhaps the next petition?
I will never want to see the NHS privatised which, like virtually every other area of life, suffers unnecessarily from interference from other parties usually for the sole reason of justifying a job. (A clumsy sentence but I've only had one coffee so far this morning)

Ideally, I'd like to see higher tax, wiser public spending, and benefits for all (hopefully in the transport arena).
I wouldn't like to see tax raised, I think we pay more than enough tax as it is. I'd hate to see a situation like they have in Scandinavia where they're paying a basic rate of 60-70% income tax. I tend to think people know better how to spend their money than the state does.

Well, not higher tax for me, obviously
But if, for example, there's a pothole in the road, I can't pay to get it fixed, even if I wanted to. The state can do that, but usually - it doesn't. At least, not until someone complains that their car or a small child has fallen into it and there's a gravity well forming inside.
If I felt that local and national government was spending wisely, and I was reaping the benefit, then I'd be happy for taxes to be a bit higher. Only a bit, mind.
But it's an ideal. In this reality, I'm paying as little tax as I possibly can because my tax is funding shit like "free tracksuits and LCD TVs for chavs" or, as it's more commonly known "benefits".

Hay hay, it's not just chavs that claim "benefits". They are also handy for those of us who do not want to work, possibly because of made-up psychological problems. Also that NWN module won't write itself!

See I'd quite like to pay more tax to have good public transport, full pay on maternity and paternity leave or being between jobs, a good NHS, etc, etc
oh yeah and MONEY FOR DECENT CYCLE LANES YOU FUCKS not 10 inch wide painted strips of fucking road that abrubtly end for no apparent reason, leaving their dubious protection behind
