Stereo powered mini speakers when on the pc, when I want to use Dolby Digital or DTS I use the optical out on a Pioneer 5.1.
When I want to go brutal on the bass, stereo mode and optical out on a Pioneer 5.1 working in stereo A+B speaker pairs (using dual amplifiers twice the power typical of a Pioneer) + a Yamaha fed on the pioneer headphones output + subwoofer on the zone 2 in the Yamaha line out.
That is 620W RMS without distortion going any higher than 0.1%. (on no less than seven 12" woofers)
Or if you wish 930W RMS at 10% THD, oh the horror, too much distortion and amplifier self oscillation to burn the speakers and / or the amplifiers.

I recently bought a premium audiophile quality sound card, Auzen X-fi Prelude.
Today I ordered the Xbox 360 HD-DVD addon since it's has slashed to $130, it works with XP and Vista machines. I've already got a stack of movies on that format sitting here and gathering dust.
I hope to get a Logitech Z-5500 5.1 satellite kit in the coming months.
