Poll options 2 and 3 are not mutually exclusive.

The moderating over there lately has been more...restrained. If you weren't even there during all of that nonsense, you can't really get a firm grasp of what it was like. I was there and it was a ton of BS. There were tons of unjust deletions and bans.
From the way I can see it, things were being done in the same way in which they are being done now. As I said in another thread here, the mod team are expected to tidy up the lead up to a ban, so yes- it might well appear that someone has dropped off the face of the earth. It is quite often the result of months/years of little infractions or temp bans brewing up behind the scenes. As for unjust deletions, I'm not sure what you are referring to precisely, but I'm confident that there would have been a perfectly good reason for it.

You're kidding, right? I was there when the worst of it was going on and anyone who disagreed with certain Mods got censored quicker than you could blink. And yeah, I had more than a couple of my posts deleted for disagreeing with a Mod and calling the Mod 'heavy-handed' with their deletions and edits of others' posts (my protests were civil with no expletives, btw). There were no 'warnings', no 'months/years of little infractions or temp bans brewing up behind the scenes', just one minute your post was there and the next it wasn't. Just wish I'd had the forethought to take before & after screenshots at the time to illustrate EM Mod censorship run amok.
That said, at this point I wouldn't want SR to have anything to do with T4. It'd just be too embarrassing. I have to agree with Nuth; T4 is not Thief to me and I sincerely wish EM would've named the game and its main character something else entirely. So no, even if (in another reality) EM brought SR back to portray Garrett I still wouldn't buy the game.

You can look at it as censorship if you want, but that's a heavy word for post deletions that I'd consider as housekeeping. I don't really know what screenshots would achieve- I believe you!
One of the TOU rules (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/announcement.php?f=269&a=50) here, (number 16) disallows public discussion about admin decisions. I'm not only following the rules in complying with that myself, but if we didn't do that then it would clog the forum up for people looking for discussion about a game they are interested in. You're perfectly welcome to discuss admin decisions via PM- none of this is a big secret.
Dia on 7/7/2013 at 13:14
O.m.g. Censorship is censorship, no matter how you try to spin it.
FYI: I rather doubt that particular TOU applies to you here, as you're NOT an admin or mod here at TTLG, so discussing what happened at YOUR forums here at is NOT the same as discussing a decision made by a TTLG admin/mod. Did I really have to spell that out to you? Honestly? Do you honestly believe that your position at EM carries any weight here? Another of your ilk tried that ploy and failed miserably, so you may as well stop trying to twist our own TOUs to suit yourself. Treating us here at TTLG as though you believe we're all a bunch of inbred malcontents is not going to win you any favors. Btw; tried and failed to have PM discussions with certain Mods at your forums when I protested unwarranted censorship. Another epic fail, imo.
Now THIS TOU, however, does seem to apply to you and your EM buddies here at TTLG:
Rule #13: Do not post any advertisements or promotions.
This forum is a place for conversation, not for advertisements. Do not post topics or messages that solicit or promote any commercial concern or transmit advertising, promotional materials, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or make any commercial use of our service.
I'm through wasting my breath on you people. You're just plain not worth it.

Uh, Dia? The TOU he linked to was from the Eidos forums and refers to Eidos forum mods ... if you already knew that, then I don't quite understand your post.
EDIT: Mind you, I personally think the secrecy surrounding mod decisions both here and presumably there is silly, but that's just me.

Yes, I am quite aware that this is a different forum with a different TOU and I'm not a mod here. I really don't understand why that is relevant to what I said.
Yeah. I'm really not advertising!

The message is there, Chade, just Expressed myself badly. Just sick & tired of the EM Forum crap being carried over to our forums & tired of the EM hype being forced down our throats. Thought we were done with that when we got rid of the last EM PR mouthpiece, but they seem to be breeding like rabbits. Guess I'd better go find some pliers & try to pull this particular thorn out of my side once & for all.
Taking a break before I get yelled at for too much derailment.

It's only a problem because you turn it into one. I can't speak for anyone else, but at least I am "sick & tired" of all the silly conspiracy theories and I certainly don't want your stupid forum drama here.
Who cares about the motives or reasons why the EM members post here anyway? Are you really that naïve that you can't see the difference between "official" PR talk and "normal/honest" talk? Yes, the EM guys may be somewhat biased for one reason or another, but that goes for just about any of us. Your opinions about everything EM & Thief4 are certainly biased as hell and you can't deny that. :p
