I dunno,
It depends what mood I'm in really, since the game doesn't care whether you've got an axe or a daedric dai'katana... it just lops off peopls heads when you strike at them...
But, if I may refer you to my oh so neccesary picture:

Subjective effect, err, affect, use a sword... I mean, if something doesn't work, don't use it...
"I've been hitting metal ball for 10 minutes with my fists, and it isn't dieing, HALP! HALP! ME!"
Oh, and I'm going to have my buddy Harla Dar eat you all, Rwar

Have you ever heard of "choice", "taste" and, God forbid, "variety".
Sure your character looks cool in a "I wanna look like every other 'cool' character" fashion but I like the simple look.
My character has no armour and only wears a common clothes. I mostly fight unarmed but as that's at 100 I felt like upping my blunt weapon stat. Plus I'd like to enchant a hammer to deal more damage. I can't do this with my fists can I?
BTW, my character is a MONK.
Get it?
I'm going for the humble, harmless look. But he's a Shoalin Monk underneath and can punch most enemies into submission. They don't fight so well when they're on the ground and they certainly don't get to deal me much damage.
BTW - is that a black robe? Nice look. Samuri/Kendo style. I'm tempted to restart as a Dunmer assasin type just so I can mix up my armour and look funky.
Finally - try to get my name right. You know what it is - why try to antagonise your fellow gamers?

If you're a monk why go for tools of carpentry? You need a treking staff...
As for the shaolin monks - the time I saw them perform they used all kinds of weaponry... Spears, flails, shortswords(of course not - but the chinese swordtype used also in Tai Chi), whips, etc. So you're not limited to the -classic- RPG misunderstanding that priests/monks/clerics/whatever should use weapons that don't draw blood...
But - hey why involve us in this in the first place... take a stand - pick a GD weapon and wreak havoc until your heart bursts with delight! Be efficient - I don't give a darn - be inefficient and I shall care just as little! But if you wanted some people to give their thoughts on different weapontypes - here you go! Now you just have to choose for yourself.
And no it's not a black robe Tuco's wearing - just some semi-"expensive" pieces of cloth.
And no he's not looking cool - real men don't wear dresses :p
As for flavour and variety - that's all nice and well - but it won't be saving you when you get your ass handed on a plate by the next badie!

Actually Exodus I wasn't asking about opinions on weapons, but about strength, unarmed and melee.
If everyone chose the same path it'd be boring. Imagine if we were all "level 100 battlemages". It'd suck.
I'm using blunt because it's a minor skill. The bladed weapons are all misc skills. I also use a longbow with enchanted arrows.

Oh, I'm just looove what I'm about to say:
Hey subjective effect: when it comes to calling something crappy, the label is simply,
(drumroll please)
...
...
SUBJECTIVE!! (tada!)
And by the way, last time I checked, the Celts were MIGHTY MEN!!! , and they wear dresses, (kilts or whatever)
And hammers ARE crappy. l337 dOoDz use stuff they can stab themselves with by accident.
Though I have to admit, Jesus used a hammer. Cause he was a carpenter. BUT YOUR NOT JESUS!!!
SubJeff on 26/6/2002 at 14:09
Of course I know that opinions are subjective Shadowbob. And do you really think you're the first person to make suck a play on my nik? Your lack of originality is laughable in light of your own love of selfjoke. Poor attempt too, there've been much better. AND your grammar is appalling.
And I'd rather not be a "l337 dOoD", it's all rather sad and old now.
Finally - the Jesus thing? Jesus . . . !
Shadowbob on 26/6/2002 at 16:09
That I flaunted my love of "selfjoke" should indicate that self-parody was my intention. As for grammer, THIS SI TEH INTRNET!!! While posts should be readable, I'd hesistate to judge one's grammer based on a FOURUM POHST!
Finally, the pun was just crying out to be made. Puns aren't supposed to be funny. Most aren't even original. I think there's a Douglas Adams essay on puns. Anyway, I think my point was
J00r A FAGORT U SUXXOR I ROOLZ U R STUPID GOBAK TO ENGRAND!!!
Evil Spoon on 27/6/2002 at 04:08
GIRLS,GIRLS! Your BOLTH pretty so why dont we stop the cat fight.
p.s. (Jesus? is that the guy that makes nachos at the bowling ally?)

*cries*
It's a robe!! Not a dress!
If I wanted to express my individuality I would get a tatoo or something.
Funny how you ridicule me not knowing what MY opinions are on how 'I' should look... like you know ME better than I know MYSELF.
Oh, and I don't remember seeing too many guys in MW who had robes on, but carried around a daedric axe, with a big mask on...
Yet for some reason, Iremember seeing a plethora of people walking around using crappy hammers/fists, and using very little or no armor... Oh right, I called those people 'hobos'.
Furthermore, style in a game like MW is all up to the person himself... It's subjective.
4 a (1) : peculiar to a particular individual : PERSONAL <subjective judgments> (2) : modified or affected by personal views, experience, or background <a subjective account of the incident>
IE: u ned teh stfu!!
You tell your guild, "Next handbag please, ours died pulling vindi!"
(Handbags are what we call monks... IE: you)
Oh, and I didn't always wear a robe... I was wearing assorted daedric/ebony etc armor, and then I put on a robe for giggles, and I was like, 'hmm, that doesn't look too bad...'
Then I found different robes, and I liked the dark purple/blue one the best..
And then I found my mask.
IT turns out my roleplaying side kicked in, and I decided to be some cultish god... imagine that, Lord Tuco the Bloodlord, who baths in the blood of his enemies! Wait, I stole that from a unique monster in diablo1, DAMN! I'm not original, oh well, can't have fun =(
Now then, SA(secondary assist!), I do believe in terms of ability and use, my guy is better, who cares you say? Well, in terms of style, 'I' think 'mine' is cooler. If you like yours, cool, be a hobo.
(oh, btw, I tested this, and hand to hand is total fag against real monsters(IE: not mudcrabs)
