Picked up House of the Dying Sun. Leaning pretty hard toward picking up Dying Light: The Following, just because I want something to fill the crunchy melee combat and acrobatic movement hole left in my heart by the Radeon 380 bug in Dishonored 2.

I like how Steam keeps emailing me to say "A game on your wishlist is on sale!" Yeah, no shit super geniuses, like 80% of my wishlist is on sale.
That said, there are some great discounts going on. I picked up Inside and Abzu, but I have my eye on about 10 others as well.

Steam award day 3: the test of time award.
<s>Only two games are more than 5 years old;</s> only one game is more than 10 years old.
.... what.
The problem is that most of those games listed don't merit a "test of time award", because not enough time has passed to see if an older game still holds up
due to age.
So the query is misguided and the result inconsequential.
"Remember in the good ol' days when Skyrim came out? I just played Fallout 4, and ya know, they just don't make 'em like they used to...Those were the days!"

I must remind myself not to buy any platformer games, regardless how cute they look. It always ends up the same, being stuck in a ridiculous, unforgiving sections and ultimately putting the game on the shelf.

Hand of Fate was better choice for me, this one seems addictive as hell.

I hope you're playing Ori with a controller. It's certainly made me realise I need a better controller, because while it may be the most beautiful thing in anyone's game library, its escape sections will not be merciful despite how ready you might have thought you were.
Also, fuck those thorny spikes teetering at the edges of platforms that you don't see until you run into them before you jump off.

I've got some games sitting in my cart, and I'm mulling over them, trying to convince myself to hit buy.
I've got Hitman (thanks to you guys), The Witness, Firewatch, Doom, and Ethan Carter (which is only three dollars, and I've been on a bit of a non-game kick lately).
I'm thinking I might hold off on Dishonored 2 for now and wait for a better sale and better patches, but the new Deus Ex is two-thirds off and is tempting. Any opinions on that one?

Yeah, using X360 controller (cable version), but that doesn't help much with sections this tight and unforgiving. IMO it's kinda weird, other genres have put so much emphasis on making games more accessible to broader audience, while platforming games may look welcoming, but still cater to people who beat first Mario games with their eyes closed.

Judith, if you want an easier platforming game I'd recommend Inside, which is not only very accessible, but also one of this year's best games.

I haven't played that many platformers that were released this year but even beyond that genre, Inside is looking dangerously close to getting my vote for game of the year.
