Either I didn't notice it before, or it's been there all along, but they now have the daily "highlighted deals" bit at the start of the sales page.
Picked up GTA 5 since it was 40% off and after getting a $50 steam voucher for christmas (GTA 5 was going for $45 USD).

I think this is the cheapest this compilation of games has ever been. The price is going to go up once this PC port leaves Early Access, so now's a good time to get it. Normally I don't back EA titles, but these are already polished games that were released on Xbox 360 a few years back.

I'm not sure. My theory is that they're a small indie studio and bankrolling the port themselves this time around (whereas the original Xbox versions and older PC ports had the financial backing of Microsoft). I'm basing this on the fact that they put TS: Complete on hold to make TS: Warchest for Ubisoft. Any projects that keep the lights on and everybody in jobs will naturally take priority.

My steam frontpage went from Russian to Spanish and then to some nordic language I couldn't figure out, right after it went back to English. It was joyful, in tune with holiday spirit.

Ubisoft is still doing daily deals apparently, regardless of whatever storewide Valve is doing. I.e. The Assassin's Creed series is currently on daily sale, as was the Tom Clancy franchises yesterday.
