You mean like the weekly deals that get updated every monday, the featured tuesday+wednesday sales, and the featured thursday to sunday sales, along with the daily deal (lasting 48 hours)?

People like to feel as if they are saving money. They'd rather buy what they think is a 80 dollar item at 75% off than the same item for 15 dollars at full price. Just look at what happened when JCPenney did their fair price thing.
