I'm not a Steam fan, but why should they let people re-download games that weren't even purchased from them? Bandwidth costs money after all. I wouldn't buy a water pitcher from Safeway and then fill it up at Smart Foods for example.

I don't care about having it available for download. If I have a retail version why would I want to download it anyway? It's easier and faster to just install it from the DVD. I just want it on the games list.

I'm going to contrast that and say the UI is horrible because it is designed for skins and doesn't follow basic keyboard navigation conventions (you cannot tab interface elements and there are absolutely no Alt+<letter> accelerator keys). Makes it a nuisance if you are playing something on a TV-connected PC where mousing isn't your first choice.
