SOMA is totally worth picking up. Has fewer puzzles than Amnesia (bit of a negative for me), but the story is pretty great.

Yes, SOMA was one of my favorite games from last year, strictly based on story and atmosphere. Frictional just knows how to make interesting games.

Funny, I went to my Steam app a few minutes ago to buy a few things, and clicking on the "Add To Cart" button wouldn't work, no matter what game I tried to buy.
You'd think of all the functions of their app, the one you'd want to work most would be that one. So now I'll just wait until tomorrow to see if it clears up, and of course by that time, there's a chance I'll have changed my mind!

Couple of others that grabbed my interest - Kholat, Lethe, Asemblance, The Bunker, The Cursed Forest and
Oxenfree. Syndrome has been talked about here as well.
If someone didn't notice, Oxenfree is on the new (
https://www.humblebundle.com/day-of-the-devs-2016) HB for less than on the Steam sale, plus you get all those other games on top of it. I just played a little and it seems lovely, getting some slight Stranger Things vibes from it which is about as scary as I feel like getting this Halloween.
Also if someone wants Lumino City, Broken Age or Grim Fandango Remastered let me know (I should update my post in that [redacted] thread sometime).

For me, the other day when I went to do my 2 purchases via Paypal it wouldn't work. Wouldn't give an error either, just kept taking me round in a loop of screens.
The fix - I then went via my browser to the Steam site. Worked fine that way.

Well, just picked up Eldrith, only because of the recommendation here. Not sure if I will like it but eh, it was $1.5. I literally just spent the same on a big onion at the store :|
I really like it. It's a weird mix of roguelite meets budget immersive sim meets Cthulhu mythos, but for me it kind of works as cosmic horror. After a while you kind of get the feeling that the monsters are just a backdrop and that you're trapped in some kind of hellish maze, messing with things beyond your understanding.
The game might seem a bit underwhelming at first, but things pick up after the first book. As froghawk said, the learning curve is higher than it initially appears. It can be kind of an acquired taste, though, especially if you're put off by the graphics or procedural generation.

Less than two hours in Eldrith and I think I'm done with it :| Just feels...boring? Starker is dead on about the "hellish maze" - I feel I'm spending 90% of the time just running around trying to find the exit in a repetitive environment rather than doing anything interesting. I got the first Dagon soul, started on the second dungeon, and realized it's the exact same thing, with exact same textures, just slightly different hue. But then im just not a fan of puzzle mazes (and hated most Zelda dungeons for the same reason).
Just not my cuppa. I could request a refund but meh, it's only $1.5 and I'd rather support the devs, even if I ultimately didn't like it.
But Darkest Dungeon finished downloading, so that'll be the next one to try.
And yes, that was a big onion.

Aww... you didn't even get to meet the statues. Also, the dungeons get progressively more dangerous, even if they may look the same. They are not just palette swaps with different enemies. I agree that the first dungeon is very underwhelming, though.
Yakoob on 31/10/2016 at 01:03
You mean the statues that grant magical abilities? Ya I did, those seemed kinda cool but there were just a few chances I really needed them so far (knock was bomb, except I got bored of exploring random doors to yet another room of the exact same loot as the previous one...)
