Even then, Mouse Joystick feels more floaty to me than straight up mouse emulation. When you run into those games that don't seamlessly switch between kb/m and gamepad inputs, like Alien Isolation, DX:HR, and Gone Home, I'll bind my controller buttons to the keyboard just because the latter is much preferable.

Hey, you sonsabitches - I drunkenly bought one of these mothers last night because they're on sale.
Will add to the commentary if there's anything to add.

I learned a long time ago you never want to get drunk with a credit card in hand. I don't want to get into the reason why, but...chinchillas.
Keep us up to date on your experiences with it, Faetal. I want to hear how you take to it.

Well I'm mainly playing Dark Souls 3 at the moment, so I figure that'll be a good trial by fire.
I'll also give it a whirl on The Witcher 3 and GTAV.

Parcel tracking says it arrive today, so I'll give it a spin tonight if I get time. Having a very busy week, so may not have much to say immediately.

I've pretty much just played Portal 2 with it. And Karaski, which I even made some community binds for!
With DS3 I quickly gave up and went back to the gamepad.

Yeah I tried DS1 just to go with something I'm very familiar with and while I got it working and could more or less work with it, it didn't feel like I was improving on the 360 pad. I should probably spend a bit more time with it, but maybe on a game where the 360 setup isn't burned into me over 250 hours of play time. GTAV seems like a good option. What's the deal with playing non-Steam games - do I just need top add it to Steam and use the overlay for everything?

DS1 doesn't offer up any improvements over the 360 controller, since it's spastic mouse controls work just as badly with the SC as it does with an actual mouse. DS2 and 3, of course, work perfectly.
One thing I just realized off the top of my head that's probably already pretty obvious to anyone who's used it, but I feel like pointing out anyway is that it's far, far better to use the tip of your thumb with the right pad, rather than the...er...pad, like you would a regular analog stick. It's something I started doing almost subconsciously the more I used it, and only realized it just now.

Yup. Once it's added to Steam, you set up the controller the same as usual.

I'm using the trackpad to emulate right analog stick rather than mouse for DS1, so it's not the fault of spastic mouse controls in this case - just that the trackpad doesn't seem to offer any advantages over an analog stick for controlling the DS1 camera. Though this may just be because I'm not used to it yet.

Yeah, for that it wouldn't offer any advantages whatsoever.
The SC is at its best when you're playing games that can use a mouse as one of its inputs. Fortunately for it, that covers a goodly chunk of titles out today. But for emulators, dual stick shooters, and the like, it's merely alright. Just one controller among many.
