Any particular reason why?
I'm not henke, but my Steam Link & Controller are similarly gathering dust.
Reasons?
Well, the controller doesn't play well with games designed for controller. It's actually made to make playing games that traditionally don't use a controller playable with one, such as 4X games.
And while my telly's not bad (not brilliant either), my desktop monitor is fantastic, and higher resolution. Yes, the Steam Link downscales a 1440P image to fit on my 1080P telly, but at the end of the day, I'd rather play PC games on my PC monitor.
And finally, I think my lifestyle is simply one that the Steam Link & Controller aren't actually targeting. I'm a single guy living in my own flat, where I think these are designed for families.
And I'd also use the controller a lot more if it was cabled and rechargeable, like the PS4's DualShock 4.

With the Link it's just a bit wonky and fiddly and whenever I considered using it I would just look at it and think "eh, I'll just go play on the computer instead". I suppose it didn't help that I never had a terribly compelling reason to get one in the first place. Sounds like you have a more urgent need for one, and you'll probably get more use out of it.
Also the damn thing kept turning itself (and the TV) on automatically. Once it turned on in the middle of the night. Eventually I just unplugged it and it stayed like that.
As for the Steam Controller, I've ragged on it plenty in the past and I feel I better shut up about it before I push Renz over the edge and make him finally start abusing his moderator powers.

Comeon. The controls weren't
that bad.
This is more mechanics than controls, but in the tutorial, you get a rope arrow and have to hit one of those little rope arrow hotspots to proceed. The hotspot actually highlights when you're aimed correctly. And the game doesn't allow you to shoot your rope arrow unless you have the hotspot highlighted.
In other words, you can't miss.
Pretty awful foolproof gaming for dummies. And completely counter to the original purpose of Thief rope arrows. Was it like this in the regular game too, not just in the tutorial? Cuz if so, they shouldn't have bothered with including rope arrows, they should have just placed existing ropes in the levels that you could climb, kind of like the chains in Dishonored.
Anyway, I really thought a fresh playthrough almost 3 years after the dust had settled on Teef would give me a better impression of it, but it hasn't. It's just a bad game.

It don't know if I'd say it was
bad, but it didn't leave much of a lasting impression on me. Yeah, the controls were a little too automatic and hand-holdy, the plot was complete nonsense, but there were a couple of interesting levels in there, and I liked the design of The City.
I'd peg it out as solidly mediocre. I didn't absolutely hate it, but I doubt I'll give it a 2nd playthrough anytime soon.

You know, I did figure out why the controller would sometimes randomly decide not to work for you. These days, I don't have to struggle at all to get it to connect to a game and use my profile, and this is mainly because...
...it's the only controller I have hooked up consistently to my PC these days. Any wired controller you have attached to your PC will always take precedence over it. There'd be times that no matter how often I tried turning it on, off, on again, rebooting the game, or rebooting Steam, it just wouldn't work. Then I'd see that I was recharging my PS4 controller, which makes games launched through Steam almost always default to it for some reason. When I'd unplug it, the Steam controller would connect every time, with nary a hiccup.

I've barely given the Steam controller a chance, the reason being that I have an XBOX 360 controller I already like.
I probably shouldn't even have bought the Steam thing.

@ Malf, henke
Thanks. To be honest, I'm still not entirely sure yet how the setup here is going to work, but at least I like to know I've got the option to throw something on the big screen if I want to.

Speaking of Sales, Sony are running a 4 day "Digital Flash" PlayStation sale with a number of similarly priced ones to those on the recent Steam sale. I picked up Abzu, Inside and Fox Tales (DLC for Never Alone).
