I usually avoid the sales but getting back into gaming kick, I decided to treat myself to
GameDev Tycoo, Torchlight II and Life is Strang. Nice variety for different moods and all were on my wish list, so figured I'd play them relatively soon.
Tempted by DXMD too...
Hah bizarre. But I've had some weird suggestions on Steam before for other games. Same on Netflix - apparently liking Good Eats I should watch Zootopia, Arrow and Flash, wat.

RE: Just Cause 3, I have zero issues with it. There's a couple places involving swathes of foliage or large explosions or both where it gets framey (50-60 FPS) on a GTX 970, but it's smooth sailing outside of those. There have been varying reports of a memory leak on systems with 8 GB of RAM, but since I have 16 GB due to the last optimisation fiasco (Arkham Knight), I haven't run into that issue.

The award categories in those Steam awards are so crazy I can't even work out what a lot of them actually mean.
The Test of Time and Whoaaaa awards are fairly straightforward (and I'm going with the same choices as Jason Moyer there), but the rest...
The “I'm Not Crying, There's Something In My Eye” Award: apart from the weird name, I guess this means a game with an emotionally moving story - which is hard to come up with, since most games honestly have pretty poor writing.
The “Villain Most In Need Of A Hug” Award: What does this even mean? A sympathetic villain? One who might have been swayed from villainy if they had good friends?
The “Game Within A Game” Award: I don't think I've ever come across a mini-game inside another game which was actually good in its own right.
The “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award” Award: I think this means a game which you played before it (or the series) became popular, and the "award" they're talking about would be if it won this award, but I'm not sure. Maybe it has to have actually won awards?

My Steam Awards:
Test of Time: Deus Ex.
I'm not crying: Deus Ex:Human Revolution (specifically saving the suicidal guy - only time I've shed a tear for a video game character)
5 more minutes: FTL
Whoooaaa: Eh. I went with Mark of the Ninja, in part because it just needs an award.
Villain hug: The Talos Principle. Like, seriously.
Game within a Game: System Shock 2 (Overground Zero). I was kind of torn on this because I also actually liked Bioshock's pipe dream (I may be the only one) and I also really like the hacking minigame in DX:HR and DX:MD.
This game was cool before: I am not generally an early adopter. I basically don't buy games that haven't won awards. So I nominated Karaski.
Farm Animal: Counter-strike. That chicken in Italy. (I'd nominate Glade Raid for pitting the party against exceptionally dangerous pigs and sheep, but I don't have a store page yet.)
Other: "I thought this genre was dead": Legend of Grimrock II

Doom at 67% off
Seems to be the same price on Bundle Stars, but using the BLACKFRIDAY11 code gets 11% off that.

Apparently Half Life 2 Ep 2 is going to win most deserving of a sequel.

The only game I can think of right now that I felt emotional about was Witcher 3 after one of the endings, but I already nominated that for game within a game because gwent felt like a meaningful addition to the game. I guess Fallout 4 has those pipboy games that I don't really care about. It's surprisingly hard to come up with things when you're not just given a pulldown menu with five options. The Binding of Isaac has to be 'just 5 more minutes' for me, and there are a ton of games that have stood the test of time but I'll go with Deus Ex. Face melting? Villain hugging? Farm animals? I got nothing.

Goat Simulator not good enough for you huh?
Silly titles aside ((
http://store.steampowered.com/SteamAwardNominations/) here's a description of what they actually mean), here's mine off the top of my head (hard to pick just one):
Test of Time: Dark Souls
I'm not crying: The Walking Dead (probably series 1 more than 2)
5 more minutes: Civ IV.
Whoooaaa: Thief
Villain hug: Portal
Game within a Game: GTA IV (haven't played any of the ones after this)
Farm Animal: Beyond Good & Evil

Samorost 3 is also on special. Highly recommended if you liked the first two.
Re the current items on the Black Friday sale, it's highly likely that they will be even cheaper on the upcoming XMAS sale so am in no rush to pick up too much this time.
