Yeah, but throwing knife to the head of unaware MJ12 trooper is much more... graceful way of killing.:D

Dragon's tooth sword thrust through the back of the skull here.
Take off both arms then [in one blow] slice the torso in half if in front of [non commando] mj12 troops for maximum moral hit. Even better if done while cloaked or with ballastic prot. and/or fast run [for the ballistic] on.

Originally posted by Alias Why does everyone act like stealth and killing do not mix? Almost every time I play I go through as an extremely stealthy killer. If a person goes down without knowing that you were there and without alerting others, then that qualifies as stealth even if you make a whole lot of noise in the process. What does noise matter if no one can hear it? Stealth is about being quite when people are within earshot. In a game with as much space as Deus Ex, 50 feet just is not that long a distance. Take the very first NSF guy you encounter in the game (the one that walks right near the fallen cop). If you wait for the 2 NSF guys that patrol near him to get a reasonable distance away, you can shoot him in the head with your unsilenced pistol and no one will hear it. That qualifies as stealth as far as I am concerned (mainly because it takes stealth to sneak into a good spot so that you can see when the two guys near him are far enough away). I just get a greater feeling of satisfaction knowing that an individual will never be bothering anyone again so I prefer killing them. And having them die without even seeing it coming is not only more humane it is much more satisfying. Amen to that.
Metal Gear Solid 2 teaches a good lesson: dead men don't wake up to sound the alarm. Granted you don't have to worry about this in DX, but my prefered style later in the game (when enemies are either immune or don't go down in one hit with tranqs) is to snipe like a whore. Hide, snipe, run away, come back, snipe again. All in good fun. I personally think that the sniper rifle is underpowered. Honestly, if I have maxed out rifle skills and a maxed targeting mod (which tacks another +20% on to damage) Simons damn well should go down in one hit in the skull. They're freaking armor peircing rounds. They go through an inch of steel. No amount of nanomachines could be stored in your body to provide the protection of an inch of steel. *mumbles in frustration* Eh. Anyway, everybody dies, nobody knows I was here, and in the end, there's no one left to talk if they did know I was here. (though it takes a hell of a lot more skill to leave them alive without them knowing I was here)

Hi all. New guy here.:)
I primarily use stealth, but am not afraid to take stronger action when the situation requires it. I mean, when MJ12 commandos attack the nightclub, I'm not going to be farting around with my tranquilizer darts!
A threat to civilian life is also a situation that requires a more decisive approach.
I just take the approach that most fits the situation. High tech skills allows me to take more subversive routes to my objectives, often allowing me to avoid confrontation completely.

When the MJ12 Commandos attack the Lucky Money, I am usually hiding under Max Chen's table, hero that I am. ;)

I do that occasionally.
As the DOOM64 manual said about the demons fighting each other: 'Sometimes, it's nice to leave the room, and just let them get it out of their systems.'

Only tangentially related to the subject of the thread...
I just finished my second play of Deus Ex, not at all stealthy, and somehow managed to get to the end... without coming across any of the aug canisters that give you the stealthy options at all... so I never had any F4 aug. :o

what are you embarressed about? It was bugger all use to you anyway, and left room for both the protection augs [Ballistic defence and the emp thingy]

Actually, pepper spray is quite useful for making bad guys stand still for that riot prod/pistol round to the head. Think of it as an aimed, reuseable gas grenade! :thumb:
I -try- to go non lethal & sneaky mostly, but usually around the time of Vandenburg I lose it and start nailing everything in sight woith the sniper, pistol or 'lockpick' (GEP) It's fun to crouch on the roof and nail the gate guys from a quarter mile away :ebil:
HUmm, actually that applies to -any- available roofs
Do you guys try playing without any augs? Epecially without regen, that adds an extra level of being cautious. I tried a 'no reaload' he other day and killed myself with a crate under the NSF HQ *sigh* :tsktsk:
PS I swear I read someone badmouthing the Enviromental skill in another thread; what's wrong with camo/ballistic/hazmats that last up to 400% longer? :D Especaily the camo, heh! (That figure might be off, I'd have to dig up my bookmark for a great skill table I found)
