I usually go stealthy killer that kills everyone one with silenced weapons, or prods. If I use too much ammo (ie, 3 sniper shots for one person) I start over. No, it is not "ghey". It is simply a style of playing.
Additionally, you CAN knock out MJ12 commandos. You need a mastered low-tech skill, and you have to prod them in the BACK. (They have reinforced steel plate thngies in the front, and it won't work in the front)

Stealth...sneaky, sneaky. It adds a lot of length to the game, and more tactical depth than killing everything in sight souped up with "nigh invincibilty" augs. Plus, it is so much cooler. :P

I used to play a stealthy low-kill approach when I first started playing the game. But, now I've lost that patience. In my current game I even started out wanting it to be no kill. But, I eventually snapped and now I'm killing all the NPC's that I can. It's kind of fun and not how I usually play. But, I do wonder what Tong thinks everyone who does an errand for the door man. I normally play a high kill, low risk style. I mean that's what it's all about: limiting risk. I'm not going to put my life at risk to help save the lives of people trying to kill me. So, I like to use my sniper rifle and sneak around with the dragon tooth. I think this is effective because I don't get fired upon too often. But, that's only my take on it.

What really irks me about the game is you don't have the option early on- you HAVE to be a sneaky bugger because you don't have the skill points [or ammo] to get a good gun.

As you might have noticed on the CD case or the box or whereever else that is a phrase referring to someone coming in at the end and solving a situation which seems to have no solution. Though there can be a god from a machine in one ending the actual meaning works for all possible endings. Yes the latin words mean "god from a machine" but that's not even the Latin meaning, it is merely the literal translation of the phrase. In fact at no point in history did the phrase “Deus Ex Machina” ever actually mean a god that came from a machine, it just meant an actor plying a god on a crane. And I don't think JC/Helios is an actor playing a god on a crane. The later it meant what it means today.
On the other hand if you are only talking about the Helios ending, and not the game in general you might as well say deus ex machina is god from a machine (that being an AI.)

I prefer to kill people stealthily. It just makes things much easier. Doing it Rambo-style just wastes ammo and gets you hurt quickly. So I use the stealth pistol, get a skill of Advanced in it in the beginning, put a laser sight on it... Silenced, good ammo capacity, one headshot gets rid of an NSF guy silently, two rapid headshots waste an MJ12/UNATCO trooper. I use the crossbow and prod in certain cases, and heavier weapons (mostly grenades, and the SABOT rounds of the auto-shotgun) against bigger things, such as MJ12 commandoes and robots.

Hows THIS for a marrige: In my current game, I'm doing it 'ninja' style: Dragon's tooth, stealth weapons, and stealthy augs to sneak up with the combat strength enhancement aug to make myself REALLY nasty with the sword.
Try it, it's great fun! :D

You get enough tranquiliser darts, just only use one when prodding/baton is impossible.
If you get your pistolskill to expert (which you can allrdy have at the mole people) they go down in 1/1,5 seconds, sometimes imediatly. The crossbow is SO cool, definately my fovorite weapon in the game.
