Games with checkpoint saves are designed with it in mind (more modularly), which is still around even if you can switch to manual. I don't think it's the biggest difference and there are bigger fish to worry about, but I could see people not liking it, if I understand the point right.

I don't think that's accurate. Was Skyrim designed with auto-save in mind? I'm sure there are other examples out there. Designing an automatic save in an open world seems like a trivial problem to me. But I'm no game programmer, so perhaps I'm missing something?

This is an awesome update, the options are a BIG plus, but there's still too much negative design decisions in the game to drown it.

Here's what EM wrote:
Chapter Save Only: manual saves and checkpoint auto-saves are disabled.
No, man,
here's what EM wrote:
Classic Thief ModsSo, here's what that DOES convey: Not being able to manually save is part of the classic Thief experience. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm the kind of person who appreciates some good old-fashioned manual gamesaving. I enjoy the ability to save after creating some wooden crate staircase, mantling on top of a piece of hitherto unexplored level architecture, or even doing something relevant such as completing a mission objective. It may be a teeny-weeny thing, but that's the real, real truth.
Now, if they had filed this Chapter Save Only-setting with the Legendary/Ultimate Thief mods, I probably wouldn't even have bothered to complain about it (even though demagogue's point about autosaves influencing gameplay and level layouts rings all too true). Which brings me to...

I didn't think anyone, even on this board, would whine about something so trivial.
Yeah, that's why I would've been perfectly happy with my one off-handed comment. Funnily enough, if you had bothered read my original post past its first sentence, you might notice that I actually offered some praise for the amount of customisation available. Having that rewarded by one of NuThiaf's most vocal defenders insulting me for no real reason didn't help boost my exitement about the game any.

Ok, so you're objecting to the lowest tranche of mods being named "classic". I ... I have no idea what to say to that.

a. I'm surprised that I have such power over your levels of excitement about a game that has nothing to do with me.
b. I'm not a defender of NuThief bro. Look at my posting history.
