And I did, in case you didn't know. I just picked out targets from within the base with the Viper 5 machinegun. And I ran for it when there were a few left, didn't want to waste ammo.

How do you know the dude didn't have a walkie talkie and somebody heard his death grunt through that? Or if they were doing a round of radio checks and that dude didn't talk back?
See, you're making up your own rules here :joke: You're saying your way SHOULD work. I'm saying if that doesn't work, try something else.
And you did open fire.
But it is silly that you can knife him just fine without setting off the alarm but using the silenced pistol doesn't work. To be honest, the low caliber PB with the integrated silencer should probably be the quietest weapon in the game aside from the knife. Going in from the sewers is suicide though tbh, the hole in the wall is so much better it's not funny.

I should have used the knife instead there. :o

Thanks for the tips.
I decided to run back to the trader during the night, because I had collected over 10 artifacts that were useless, and I got a lot of cash for them. Plus I had a lot of extra weapons and excessive amounts of ammo.
What is the safest way to get back to the trader once you've passed through the electrified tunnel?

well, if you mean sidirovich (?) in CORDON, the safest way is to sneak around
the military checkpoint and up on the train rails there is an opening in the
fence -> no electro shocks, no military.
later in the game you can either:kill all the military or just walk
thru the electro anomalies cause your suit is much better now and
you won't loose any health.

Also, at that stage of the game you can likely just run through the military checkpoint and let them fire at you ineffectually as you pass through. I don't bother killing them anymore - waste of time and they don't have anything "good" anymore. Well, except if you climb way up on top of the railway bridge girders; then it's fun to pot shot them from up there.

Why to suffer the pain caused by electro anomalies in the tunnel, why to suffer pain caused by their bullets? You can relatively easily pass the railway bridge without them noticing you this way :

Since bullets degrade the armor you are wearing, I consider it pretty stupid to run through the military checkpoint and let them fire at you instead of using the hole in the fence and get past unnoticed.

I cleared the base on broad daylight with not much trouble, so I think I shall clear the bridge checkpoint to avoid the tunnels and stop paying the toll. It's great to be bad ass.

Pretty easy too. :p
