That looks a bit nicer to my eyes. Still, sorting out those slices would make a big difference. What are you using to produce it? In a program like Fireworks, assuming all the layers were still intact, it would be easy to re-order everything, but you may not have done it the way I'm thinking.

I am using Inkscape to create the image(png) and then ulead smartsaver pro to slice and make the java-applet hover effects. This is a very easy way to do that... And i dont see y i should code it myself, while a handy program can do that stuff for me... :)
I didnt know Fireworks until now. Perhaps i should take a look. But when i look at Fleshworks i dont see much of a design there. Which is not bad in general but its just that there is a logo and the rest seems to be plain html! :D

I would tend to stick to standard text/HTML tables for menus and navigation. It is easier to code and maintain, much quicker to load (your page takes around 5 seconds on my machine, just to load the images), more friendly to disabled/text-only users and in my view looks a lot better and more professional.
It's your site though, design it how you want (although as scumble says I would concentrate on getting the database running before worrying about presentation details).

I didn't read thru the whole thread, but i have been meaning to get around to adding T3 stuff to LPG, of course it's getting to the point that I should rename it 'Not so Low Poly Guild'
Anyway, if anyone does want me to host their smeshs read the submission instructions and you'll know what to do.
Maybe one of these days I'll be working in T3 too, just need a newer comp.

But i think in about 2 weeks (hopefully) we will have a certain place to host our smeshes, so theres no need to change anything... :)
I want to say one thing. I did not want to make up a login database. So no one will be able to edit his upload later on, besides the admins... I hope you can live with that. Otherwise we should develop something else.
