I've noticed that sometimes (esp in Wild Territory) that a stash that has been marked on my map has nothing in it. And its definitely not because I've already looted it because alot of them I hadn't found until the marker showed up.
Also does anyone else hate the way the stashes are in the game? That is they don't appear until you find the PDA message that tells you where it is. I think its a terrible idea and ruins the exploring aspect of the game a bit.

There's a stash bug, yes. If it's marked and empty, put something in it. Then take that out. May need to repeat once or twice, but it will unmark it allowing it to repop.
Eh, stashes aren't really about exploring. They're just extra rewards for killing enemies. There are still some nice things to be found by pure exploration though.

I disagree since often the only thing you find when exploring is chests and packs etc in some weird places that can take a bit of work to get to but unless you have found the map marker there will be nothing in it and therefore no reward for all your hard work. I don't mind the markers but I just felt that there should be more 'locked' in stashes that are there from the beginning.
But thanks for the tip in regards to the stash bug.

I've noticed in 1.0003 that there is definitely a stash bug. I'm not talking about those stashes that remain marked on your PDA after you loot them, because I always make sure that the marker disappears by using the technique that Phatose described. There are stashes for which you get the information, and when you get there for the first time they're empty.

Yes. I noticed that in the very first location, later I just ignored stash marks, they don't irritate me at all. No big loss.

The stashes I've found are mostly useless. I did find one in military warehouses that was pretty useful, an anti-rad artifact.

There are lots of useful stashes. Some with the vintar sniper rifle, others with a gp 37, and some with seva suits. The last time I played through the game, I spent a lot of time completing most of it, and ended up coming across quite a few of these more useful stashes.

Hmm, I would love to come across one of the SEVAs.

You mean you never found the SEVA stash in the Wild Territories? It's actually pretty easy to get it. You get the information from one of the zombie stalkers that die in the burner anomalies inside the tunnel the first time you get there. Then all you have to do is to go inside the house filled with radiation, and get the suit from the safe.
There are LOTS of very useful stashes. Many of them contain artifacts, and others contain armour, weapons, or ammo. On my last game for the first time I found a stash in Agroprom that had 60 rounds of AP sniper ammo, which is very hard to come by. Those were pretty useful in the NPP area. Do you know that, for example, in Pripyat there is a stash that contains an enhanced Exoskelleton and a Mama's Beads? Would you call that useless? ;)

My brother found TWO SEVA suits in that safe.
The lucky bastard.
