I have been playing this, its actually quite awesome. Nice change of pace, and yes quite the "one more go" kinda game.

I've also been playing this, very addicting. The game is great at introducing new stuff sporadically as the days pass to keep your interest. There's always this sense of "just want to do a few more things before I quit" and then 2 hours have gone by.
Here's an interview with the author - I love this guy's story. He was working part time as a theater usher, and had graduated with a comp sci major but couldn't find a job. Over a four year period, he makes this game all by himself then he releases it and within two weeks it sells over 400K copies and he's a millionaire. Notch lite.

Not a millionaire at 400K units. He'll probably need double that to break $1M in income.
400K units * $15 = $6M in revenue
After steam takes it's 70% cut: $1.8M
His publisher is going to take a big cut too, but we'll ignore that.
Income tax + Self Employment tax = 39.6% + 15.3% = 54.9% so he'll take home only 45.1% of it.
That's $811.8K (again assuming his publisher didn't take a cut, which they did - big time!)

Ouch, I think you have that reversed there.

You're correct. Steam takes 30%. However considering that Bethesda was talking a 45% cut for their mods, taking home 30% of his sales doesn't seem unreasonable. Could be wrong though.

No doubt he'll be a millionaire by year end either way.

Not sure why you brought up Skyrim mods, that has nothing to do with this game or how much money it will make.
The game has now sold well over 500K copies, so at $15 a pop, that's revenue of 7.5 million. Even with Steam's 30% and probably 10% from his publisher (whom he has publicly said takes a very low percentage), AND taxes, the guy is easily a multi millionaire by now. And the game has been out less than a month.
Its' a great success story, but I'm cringing thinking about all the copycat, god awful farming games that are probably going to start showing up on Steam now.

I must look into this one - I recently found my 3DS and have been binging on Rune Factory 4 (new to me, though it's probably been out for a while), so I'm in the mood for a fun farming game.

Does anyone here play this at all? There was recently a huge update adding all kinds of things, including new farm layouts and end game stuff. Got me playing from scratch again just to see whats new.

I had a prod at it a while back. May re-install at some point.
