Um, Anachronox was in 3d & it also had a party you could control. I wouldn't call that game sucky even in the slightest.
As for what the game is like... I'll quote the features from the official site:
Quote:
Long before the Galactic Civil War, an epic drama begins. Engage in this saga set in the Golden Age of the Republic - over 4,000 years before the first Star Wars film, when both Jedi and Sith number in the thousands. With the Galaxy reeling from a recent conflict with the Dark Lords, the ongoing battle between the Jedi and the Sith rages on. Your actions determine the outcome of this colossal galactic war - and your destiny as a Jedi.
+ Immersive, action-packed Star Wars role-playing experience with customizable and evolving playable characters.
+ Choose from nine customizable characters to build your party of three adventurers, including humans, droids, Twi'leks, Wookiees and more.
+ Journey spans seven different worlds including Tatooine, Sith world of Korriban, Jedi Academy on Dantooine and Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk.
+ Build your party and upgrade your equipment in your own starship, the Ebon Hawk.
Fast paced mini-games -- such as racing swoop bikes, or manning turret guns.
Take from that what you will, but it sounds like a damn fine game to me.

Flaws and such have been mentioned at the IGN review, I think if a game is infact -that- good(hopefully)little crap must surface about it, huh?, yes dear folks, GOOD and even GREAT games are still being made, we just don't see'em that often(or are often cynical and less surprised about'em). Me, wether I get the Xbox or PC version, I am sure I will enjoy it :). As someone mentioned before, it CAN be possible that the game is infact very good ;). So lets all lighten up and play before we rant :D. And now, gotta plug my PC and I'll see you in a few weeks y'all.
Wee wee...:thumb:

IMO, i think it sounds like the best star wars game out of the crop being released.

"Despite appearances, though, the combat is really just a series of statistical checks, just like D&D. Your character's "to hit" rating, determined by his or her class, level, and weapon, is added to a random 1-20 dice roll and compared against the opponent's defense rating. If the to-hit roll is greater, you connect and deal damage. Your characters will automatically attack any foes nearby until either you or they are all dead, so in some cases, you end up simply watching the fight unfold."
I've never played a d&d game before but I'd rather be involved in the combat than watching it happen. Jedi Knight 3 looks far more interesting to me.

I picked it up. I think the plot and dialogue are a little, well, dumb. It's kinda fun, though (if overly linear, so far). It actually seems to draw inspiration from Planescape: Torment and Deus Ex in some areas.

havent played it (not out yet here), a lot of the reviews have seemed encouraging, though I'd like to wait for the PC version.

The long rumoured remake coming from Aspyr is real, for PC & PS5 (timed console exclusivity). (
https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/lip19w/aspyr_may_have_been_working_on_their_kotor_remake/) A lot of ex-Bioware staff are working at Aspyr, supposedly.
I have a bad feeling about this. It's almost always a case of waiting for the other shoe to drop with modern day remakes from Western studios, i.e. censorship. The original was such a great game, I'd hate to have its legacy be tainted. There's no reliable way to play the OG on PC. Aspyr in the past patched up KotOR 2 to run nice on modern PCs, but with the first game you have to rely upon a patchwork of fan-made fixes. The game was prone to somewhat regular crashes a lot when I was playing it a few years back under Windows 7 or 8.

On the downside, they're not remaking the one that was actually good.
On the upside, they're not remaking the one that was actually good.

Eh, it was alright. A bit too much by the numbers, but I feel Bioware actually pulled all the familiar tropes off pretty well. Or at least to me it felt more Star Wars than anything in the prequels.
