I don't know what this thread was before it fucked up, but considering that I was there for 'Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers' or whatever the hell that was, I'm not sure I want to know.

All I'm detecting is a lot of faggy catchphrases, invented by other people and parroted by morons who want to look cool on the internet
What is wrong with you? You're supposed to be a moderator here, act mature. (I.e. not spazzing out with homophobic insults because someone disagrees with you)
ZB is exactly right - in both cases in the Deus Ex forums of thread splitting all the "moderators" ended up doing was
disrupting the discussion and
cluttering up the forum. A mature moderator would have simply asked the participants to keep on topic.
But I guess its easier to call people "faggy," morons, parrots, and posers. Next time, do your job.

well this is constructive

Splitting the thread put the legit thread back on point (at least, that was the idea). The real issue wasn't the splitting, but keeping the new Star Trek thread here, instead of sticking it in CommChat where it technically belongs and would probably get better airtime anyway.
But even aside from that, of all the ways to screw up a forum, I wouldn't exactly consider "clutter" the one thing really threating the Deus Ex forum.

Am I the only one who's reading this forum for fun? And am I the only one who thinks strict law and order is not particularly fun? Sure, total anarchy is not fun either, but can't we accept a few out of topic posts inside a thread once in a while just so we can laugh?
BTW, the thread splitting made me smile, particularly with its title.

damn man you need to relax
edit: I've changed my mind. It turns out I CAN be bothered explaining where you're going wrong here. ZB is not exactly right. Splitting the thread does not disrupt anything, it moves the off topic discussion, of which there was a considerable amount, into a new thread, leaving the original free of
disruption. The new thread does not
clutter up the forums as there are
FOUR ACTIVE THREADS IN THE WHOLE LISTOh and I didn't move it to Comm Chat because I quite like the occasional off topic thread in here and it doesn't really hurt anyone, does it???
As for the rest of your whine, I do find it preferable to insult people for low quality posts rather than "do my job" and put them on probation for it. I generally hope that they will realise they are not contributing well and pull their act together. Sadly it seems to just generate more whinging. I certainly won't make that mistake again! "All I'm detecting is a lot of faggy catchphrases, invented by other people and parroted by morons who want to look cool on the internet" is less an insult than it is gospel bloody truth. I know it must hurt but there it is!
If you really want to pursue this further I would suggest PM or e-mail however I would suggest even more strongly sucking it up and not getting worked up about my moderation of an internet forum
