no it crashes out and I get a windows error with lots of numbers and stuff I can't read

Stupidly, I never thought about that - presumably the mission works fine for you with blockloading on? In that case, how about sending/posting directory listings and paths from your t3 directory so I can try comparing them with mine and replicating it? I did try using your install path but it didn't work... actually that might be worth another shot seeing as I have your user.ini in full now.

All of my TDS stuff lives under C:\Davids\Thief3 (\blah normal setup)
